EARLY LOOK AT 2011 FCS NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS
Alright guys I was going to post on some names and tidbits I have for next year already. Who do you think has a shot on your team to play in the NFL? Also, if you guys want some info on next year let me know or I will let this thread die. I will go ahead and throw out there that I have 8 players firmly on the draft board and another 6-8 guys that I really like to possibly move into the draft.
Re: EARLY LOOK AT 2011 FCS NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS
Chase Reynolds from Montana. He may not have the speed and size to compete for a starting job (right away), but I think he has the vision and athletic ability to be a short yardage back.

I think he'd get drafted if he left early, but Taiwan Jones in 2012. If he bulks up a little and continues to progress, I could see him going in the first two rounds. He's Jahvid Best, but chose to go the small school route because of grades.

What about Brandon Ward, DE from Elon? He might be undersized for a DE in the NFL, but at 6'5" 235 lbs, he might be able to play OLB

Re: EARLY LOOK AT 2011 FCS NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS
Well, Devlin's a guy who could go as high as the first round, so there's a name. Depends on how he does this year but UD should have a very good year this year and he'll be right in the middle of it. He's no Flacco in terms of being that NFL ready, but he's a guy who will be drafted as a QB. Depending on what the NCAA rules, Josh Baker is a back of the draft kinda guy - and he will play at the DII level if the NCAA says he can't play FCS this year. The other UD guy to watch for is Anthony Walters - again, a late round guy and he would probably play Safety in the NFL, but he's a very real possibility.

Very fast and explosive player. I know he had shoulder issues and will need to get healthy but he certainly has the talent to go in the top 100 for sure, with another good season.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:I think he'd get drafted if he left early, but Taiwan Jones in 2012. I think he and Bratton both will get looks. Delvin has a shot to go in the top 5 rounds. I think if he had the arm of Skelton he would be a second rounder for sure. I really like Devlin's accuracy, touch, and intelligence.GannonFan wrote:Well, Devlin's a guy who could go as high as the first round, so there's a name. Possibly. Free agent on my board now. He jumps out as having the length and athletic ability to be a solid 3-4 OLB. He needs to bulk up though and get more polished.JConnolly wrote:What about Brandon Ward, DE from Elon? He might be undersized for a DE in the NFL, but at 6'5" 235 lbs, he might be able to play OLB

It'll be fun to watch him over the next 2 years, as he has the potential to be EWU's highest ever draft pick. It'll be hard to beat Roos at no. 42 overall in the 2005 draft.SmallCollegeFBFan wrote:Very fast and explosive player. I'm curious as what you think of TxSt's Karrington Bush's chances of getting drafted. Last year he was hampered with injuries until he blew out his knee half way through the season. With all that said he is a special player when healthy.

Without going into great detail there are some things killing him that I can't talk about on here. I will re-check him in the fall but I don't think he is going to be a guy many teams would even leave on their board as a player they would bring in, let alone draft.txstatebobcat wrote:I'm curious as what you think of TxSt's Karrington Bush's chances of getting drafted. The sleeper at W&M is DE Bryan Jean-Pierre. He has not realized his potential, and hopefully will this year. At 6'4" 275 he has an explosive burst, and is very athletic. Has played mostly at DT, but will get time this year at DE.

Re: EARLY LOOK AT 2011 FCS NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS
Will there be Pro football in 2011?? Assuming, all parties can agree on the salary cap and whatever other issues that may lead to a lockout, below is my opinion on who will be playing in the NFL from Nova;
Judging by how high Ducasse went, I'd say Ben Ijalana (LT) has a good shot to go in that same area of the 2nd round if not higher.
If he's not playing baseball, and depending on the team need and who's drafting where, I can see Matt Szczur (WR/KR) going as high as late 2nd also.
Staying on the offensive side, Chris Whitney (QB) could go as high as 4th/5th round, or he could slip and find his way on a team as an UFA.
Aaron Ball (RB) depending on what kind of year he has this year could be a middle to late round pick, or be an UFA.
Angelo Babbaro (RB) UFA
Brant Clouser (OL) should get drafted in the late rounds, but may slip to UFA.
On the defense, Terence Thomas (LB) will probably be a 5th round pick or slip to UFA.
Marquis Kirkland (LB) UFA.
John Dempsey (S) UFA.

VMI: (most likely FA choices
Michael Rainey-Wiles. 5'10", 177#. Has been moved to CB, and has dominated Spring ball, and Coach Woods is gaa-gaa over his abilities and instincts.
OLB-SS Kris Ware. 6'0, 223#. Very good instincts to the ball, hard-hitter, a natural.
DE Ben Brandt. 6'2" 260#. Ready for a break-out year. Has one of the top-three marks in the bench press and squat.

As long ago as it was, I am still surprised he did not go even higher than he did. The dude is an absolute beast.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:It'll be fun to watch him over the next 2 years, as he has the potential to be EWU's highest ever draft pick. There will be NFL in 2010. 2011 is the year in jeopardy.jstclmet wrote:Will there be Pro football in 2010?? .
Re: EARLY LOOK AT 2011 FCS NFL DRAFT PROSPECTS
I don't think UNI has any.
We have 5 seniors who have saw real PT.
K Billy Hallgren - no way in hell he even gets a PFA
S/OLB Jamar Thompson - I could see him being a late round PFA guy.
FB/TE Ryan Mahaffey - nope
TE/WR Schuylar Oordt - 6'8 good hands solid routes might get a rookie camp invite if he has a good year
WR Maurice Turner - good route possession guy but a dime a dozen
