GoHens.net board suspended indefinitely.

Founder has apparently tired of the rampant negativity and bickering on the site. I can understand his frustration, but I will miss the site if it does not come back.

Just saw it myself, very disappointing. It was a great board, it's the reason why UD posters don't visit the CAAZone anymore. I agree with HensRock though that the direction it's gone, especially since the season ended has been straight downhill. Very vocal anti-Keeler group clashing with the non-anti-Keeler group.

There was a guy that was "banned" twice that was back for a 3rd time that was a complete waste of space & then the leader of the anti-KC group started a slanderous thread at the end that seemingly broke the camels back.

There was another site, bluehenfootball.com, that closed its message board a while ago b/c of degenerative issues. Hopefully, gohens will return as the season gets closer, I miss it already.

I didn't visit often but I liked the board and particularly HensRock. Hope it comes back.

The board just became completely dysfunctional. I had relegated it to a visit maybe once, twice tops, per week, and maybe a post or two a month. The only joy I got out of it was reading about our recruits or other Blue Hen sports beside football. The preconditioned responses from the most vehement KC supporters and detractors was simply nauseating to try to sift through. Every thread was groundhog day. You could make a post about EWU's red turf on there and it would turn into a Tubby vs KC argument. :ohno:

Agreed - I had really slowed down my postings there and outside of the season tickets and lacrosse conversations I had steered away from any of the other topics. That last one with the guy accussing KC of being a bad tipper (which he may very well be) was certainly the last in a long line of straws. But yeah, it was one thread after another of the anti-KC people ripping him and the pro-KC people responding back - very tedious. Hopefully Hensrock can bring it back minus a few of those people if need be.

You can probably make it a rule that all KC/Tubby talk be outlawed. I know on MST3K boards that the Joel Robinson/Mike Nelson "Who was better?" argument has been banned since it never ends. Maybe that's a road y'all should take?

It wasn't even that there were arguements; it was the level the arguements reached. It would start out on a topic that was related to some aspect of UD football and by the end they'd be back to the KC discussion or slamming each other's character. We had the same thread about Devlin on that board as this one and in the end it shifted to our perceived "cupcake" home schedule, how KC won't play reserves, and how dumb other posters were for not agreeing with everything that was said on the thread. I'm all for differences of opinion. It's what makes sites like this so interesting; but these guys took to a new level.

That being said...I already miss it.

Solution is easy.

Just go back to posting on the CAA discussion boards...you guys can rant and rave all you want there.
Problem with your old GoHens board is that it was too incestuous...Delaware fans, smarting under the ongoing
deterioration of their football program from a dominant one to more of a pedestrianl one, had nowhere to go but that Delaware only board to beat each other up (although it was fun to read but one of the most self-destructive we've come upon).

At least by going back to the board with your CAA bretheren you can get some fresh viewpoints from other folks and not have to consume one another daily with this sour, and evidently continuing, turn of gridiron fortune.

The "discussion" of Keeler went way beyond "tipping". Multiple examples were provided of an arrogant, pompous attitude displayed in public and also when meeting with high school coaches. The "pro-Keelers" dismissed the "reports" as untrue and attacked the character of the posters providing the information....common strategy whenever any "negative" ideas are posted about UD football.
The "anti-Keelers" took offense....some even had fun with it and invented tales....Halloween candy cheapskate, car wash cheapskate, etc (Hens05 a primary "contributor"). The "defenders"... with brain unconnected... even defended Keeler against made up tales.
An apparent insider logged in to threaten a coaching boycott of the Board and the closing of practice to the public as retaliation.
The "insiders" stepped in to put an end to the frivolity.
Bottom line.... the Keeler era has stirred up the troops...the "insiders" have pulled up the drawbridge on the moat.

Huh? Outside of a few posters it was hard to really identify "anti-Keeler" and "pro-Keeler" folks - most posters fell into the middle and just wanted the team to play better. But that thread you're mentioning didn't go down the way you are implying it did. A very clear "anti Keeler" guy brought up an incident (a bad tipping) that apparently happened several years ago as a current black mark on the program, the few anti guys chimed in that they agreed, then the pro Keeler guys started making up their own stories (the Halloween story for instance) to illustrate the sort of petty rediculousness of the original post, and it went on from there.

But the other part you have right - a Board that acts like that and tarnishes the program the way it was headed could certainly expect to be shunned by coaches and players alike. HensRock and the rest of the guys who contributed a lot to the site do attend practices and they organized those monthly Huddles during the off-season where coaches, players, and administrators came in on their own time to talk to fans. There were plenty of interviews that were given especially to the GoHens board that weren't even given to the general public or media that could reasonably end if the site continued to be a place where people posted such damning information, especially just word of mouth information. I can't blame any of them for being upset that a site they created, as HR said, to promote UD football, would turn into a repository of unsubstantiated accustations and general demeaning of the program they enjoyed following.

Hopefully for the rest of us, that just like having a place to get our fix of Blue Hen football, HR can bring the site back and civility will rule. However, as history has shown, even the most "anti" people will find their way back to a site like that (even after multiple bannings) and will keep up the rancor - they just can't help themselves.

Nah, UD's very likely a playoff team this year and likely to win some games once they get there and people were still upset. It would take 4-5 straight playoff years, along with 2-3 national titles for some people before they would lighten up and just enjoy football. Anger by some against KC is that engrained.

Of course, it didn't help that a potential jacking up of season tickets of maybe as much as 150% was on the horizon - that was just one more ax to grind (although that one at least had some real legitimacy around it).

Season ticket and parking increase on the horizon....delayed facility upgrades which were supposed to be announced at the big West Chester rivalry game last year.... intention by Keeler to abandon games against FBS opponents (turned down Pitt and scheduled Duquesne) ...intention by Keeler to feature only FCS patsies at home rather than schedule home/home series against any real competitors. The program...in the minds of some... is certainly not "national calibre" for a number of reasons.
Coupled with the local diehards who view Saturdays at Tubby Raymond as a cheap day out regardless of the fact that there's a football game included.... hostility abounds between competing philosophies and expectations.

I was gonna say... ...looks like GoHens is showing up here. Now we just need to get Bangor, Baltimore, OverSeer, et al on board and the transformation will be complete. It'd be swell if they'd keep their names the same so as to avoid any guessing.

This'll be a fucking blast, dumping all of our dirty laundry in the CS.com living room. Throw in a bit of mainefag and jstclamidia antagonizing and this will be a cluster fuck of magnificent proportions for all to witness.

I don't think this guy even needs any guessing - it may be the 4th name he's used, but the posting style has to be one of the most easily identifiable ones I've ever seen.

Quick, say something deragotary about high school football in District 11 in PA!!!!
