I wouldn't have read it if it was in an MLB thread. Here is good and it is the only player from FCS I really give a shit about anyway.CatMom wrote:put it in the MLB thread like everyone else
It actually wouldn't be fair because he not only played baseball but was a major mother fucking star on the football field and won a NC so having a little extra glory is what would seem fitting to me.CatMom wrote:Hey, I know why it's over here. I'm just sayin' All the other FCS guys being drafted are listed under the MLB Draft thread. Only seems fair. (but i know he plays football too and I had to get some kinda dig in)
Ah, so Edwards being drafted was just a passing thoughtSkjellyfetti wrote:He's still an FCS football player until he announces his decision or he signs.
This is easily the biggest story of the offseason for FCS.
Yeah, we're just pissin' in the wind with ya.CatMom wrote:Ah, so Edwards being drafted was just a passing thoughtSkjellyfetti wrote:He's still an FCS football player until he announces his decision or he signs.

(you all know I'm messing around here, come on guys)
I'll try to remember that in the futureUrsus A. Horribilis wrote:Yeah, we're just pissin' in the wind with ya.CatMom wrote: Ah, so Edwards being drafted was just a passing thought

Would it kill ya to look over and say "nice cock" once in a while?
the "slot" for his pick is $137,000. He'll probably get over slot by a little because of the incentive to return to college, but not by much. I'd peg him for $150,000-200,000 in a signing bonus plus a minor league contract (read very little money in salary and only paid during the summer). The one thing he should be able to get his the remainder of his undergraduate degree paid for if he wants to go back to school after his playing days are over.Silenoz wrote:Guaranteed money?
fair enough.CatMom wrote:I'll try to remember that in the futureUrsus A. Horribilis wrote: Yeah, we're just pissin' in the wind with ya.

I don't know the exact figure, but you can generally look at a difference of about $5000 per draft spot when you get into the 5th round.CatMom wrote:What's the $$ for round 5, 1st pick (# 146). They took our Jr SS (though I don't know why anyone would) and I wonder if he'll take the money or not
No, THE reason was that Nova's o-line dominated the Montana D line and blew open holes for him, Whitney and the other Nova backs to run through all night long.mtgrizfan4life wrote:PLEASE SIGN as football fall camp is starting.![]()
Seriously, he was THE reason Nova beat Montana. I honestly wish him the best and his signing to play baseball should have come about 7 months earlier.

I think Scissors will decide well before then out of respect for the 'Nova football program. And, one of the things you'll lose if you stick around for your senior year is the leverage of going back. As danefan pointed out, there's almost no way he goes over slot if he stays for his senior year -- and runs the risk of injury. If you're thinking with your brain, you gotta sign. If he goes with his heart, who knows? I'm sure he'd like back to back titles.JMU DJ wrote:bluehenbillk wrote:I have no personal insight, but I can tell you that driving in the car yesterday afternoon, local Phiilly sports radio said it may be a tough decision but they thought he'd stay at 'Nova....
Generally from what I understand, if you get taken in the first 2 rounds it's a done deal, you go to the pros. If you get taken 3-7, it becomes a question mark. Do you go to the college you signed with, do you stay in college for your senior year, etc. May not know until mid August when these kids have to make their final decision.
Agreed with all but the last sentence. Fuck him on that one.mcveyrl wrote:I think Scissors will decide well before then out of respect for the 'Nova football program.
