UMass Football Season

The Minutemen report to camp tomorrow, and senior QB Liam Coen is ready for a big season...The pre-season CAA offensive player of the year has put on some weight, most of it muscle, as opposed to past seasons where his added weight was less muscle and more... :?:

Anyway, a great season from Coen would mean UMass can go deep into the playoffs...

Practice has started!!!!!
University of Massachusetts football players have spent the offseason working toward this point. Now the coaching staff is going to let the players know if they worked hard enough.

Yea, not looking very good...

Got the pre-season CAA Offensive player of the year at QB...one of the biggest and fastest O-lines we're had...a good receiving corp and a secondary that is tall and fast...

No, it's not looking very good...

But, I'd love to have the Griz vist Amherst in early December...a return trip for 2006...could be fun...

Oh go suck one, homer. If there's a rematch, it'll be at Wa/Griz. And it'll be in the 2nd round or beyond.

Running back is going to be on of those interesting positions for UMass this season...

#1 on the Depth Chart is Tony Nelson, who I feel is going to step up real nice this season...he had a great season last year as #2...

Problem is, who is going to be #2 and beyond this season...

Amherst...Wa/Griz...I don't care...we're proven we can win there...are you guys scared of coming east....

Anyway, it don't matter because I'm building up a cache of chits with the wife right now that I intend to cash in if this match happens...ANY WHERE!!!!!

While UMass is concerned about depth at Running back, our secondary is looking like a great strength...

It will be tested against Texas Tech, and while I'm not willing to predict an upset...if the Red Raiders think this unit will fold because of their speed, they might be in for a big surprise...

Ironic that Umass would not have depth at RB...

It is, isn't it. Maybe the lack of "names" below #1 on the depth chart will motivate those who earn spots #2 & #3 in camp...

The secondary is strong...linebackers and the "D" line are also looking real good...

What was a strong defensive unit last year could be stronger this year...

Time will tell...

We're not scared of coming East. We just don't do road playoff games....it's against our religion.

Sorry. I don't think 8-4 is gonna get you in the playoffs this year.

I hope we don't play CAA teams in the playoffs this year. 3 teams in the last two trips. Give us the OVC or Southland. :D

You've got a much better chance at 8-4 than you do at 10-2. You lose to Texas Tech, lose @ JMU, lose @ New Hampshire. That means you've got to go 3-0 @ Holy Cross, home against Richmond and home against Delaware. Good luck with that.

Losses to Texas Tech and JMU (maybe) are all I see...

Our defense is better than last year, and UNHs offense is not as good as last years (IMHO) = WIN even at Durham

10 - 2...you heard it here...

I'll take the under. The Griz have a better shot @ 10-2 than UMass. :o
