Montana Grizzlies #10:
Shawn Lebsock
LB, 6'0", 225, Junior
Billings, MT
Billings Skyview HS
“Shawn’s got a lot of pop at the middle linebacker spot. He’s coming off a
redshirt season, and he played as a true freshman for us. If spring ball is an
indicator, Shawn will have a really fine season. I am anxious to see how long
it takes him to knock the rust off after having to sit out last season. He comes
from a football family. He’s an instinctive, smart player. It’s probably imperative
for our team that we get great production out of him this year. – Head
Coach Bobby Hauck
Montana: Shawn is a quality player and will start at middle linebacker. 2007: He missed the 2007 season after undergoing surgery and red-shirted.
2006: He was the Grizzlies’ seventh leading tackler with 78 stops and played in all 14 games. He was an All-Big Sky Conference academic team pick.
2005: He played in 11 games as a “true” freshman and had one start (vs. Cal Poly on Oct. 22). He was named to the Big Sky Conference academic squad.
High School: He was voted Montana Gatorade Player of the Year in 2004. He was a first team all-state selection at running back and at linebacker as a junior and senior. He participated in Montana’s East-West Shrine Game and was one of the captains for the East squad. He also played in the annual Montana-Dakota All-Star game. He was tabbed co-MVP on defense in Montana at the “AA” level. He was an integral player for Billings Skyview’s state championship team in 2003 and the runner-up squad in
2004. He also lettered in basketball and track.
Career highs: He had nine tackles in a FCS home quarterfinal game against Southern Illinois in 2006. He had a forced fumble at Iowa in 2006.
Personal: His high school football coach was his dad Ron Lebsock, who is a former Grizzly starting center at Montana and the Steve Carlson Award winner (MVP) in 1977. His older brother, Matt, was a safety at UM from 2003-06. His younger brother, Nick, is a sophomore fullback at UM. Birth date: May 17, 1986. His major is business administration.
