Go Hens Top 25 Pool

I am pretty sure we have one here somewhere (if I can find it) but most of your probably know that Go Hens has a top 25 pool for different groups of users. He has always had an AGS group and I noticed this year he has one for CS.com and nobody has signed up. I signed up for AGS since the CS group was empty but if some of you will go participate, I will be more than happy play in both (if I can).
Just a thought and here is a link.

Don't forget they have two different pools, one straight up and the other with point spreads.

I just approved you danefan.
FYI, you can create your own groups too (public or private).
If you create a private group, you choose a password. Everyone who wants to join your group will need to know your password. That way, you can control who joins.
The CS.com groups are public, so they do not require a password to join.
You can join as many groups as you want, but you can only have one entry per group.

Note to danefan: You signed up for the pick 'em but not the spread. Get in the spread pool too, ya ninny.

Fixed. Didn't even notice it down there.
Anybody else surprised by the Cal Poly spread?

You'll notice some spreads that just call out to you during the year. The odds on FCS games are way more beatable than FBS and pros due to (IMHO) a lack of knowledge of the level by the folks setting the lines. I forget who GoHens uses. Five Dimes maybe?

I took second (IIRC, if second then third for sure) among all entries in the spread pool last year. My straight up picks were not nearly as stellar. I think I was 20 or 30 something in the pick 'em.

Hmmm...seems like an easy way to make some moola.
I'm taking Quincy getting 83.5 too.

The rub is that GoHens gets the lines early in the week and locks them, whereas the offshore betting sites continue to move up until game day.

That's pretty good. I just consider anything above 50% on the spreads a victory

Actually, I use the Born Power Index with an offset for homefield advantage.
I didn't think 5dimes handicaps all FCS games. Born ranks ALL college teams. Comes in handy when SIU opens with their annual cupcake. Quincy is not just an NAIA team - they're a BAD NAIA team.
Yeah, sometimes the spreads get a little out of hand. 83.5 is officially the largest I've ever had in 5 years of doing this. I thought of adjusting it, but decided to let it stand.
BTW, I'm taking SIU and laying the 83.5
Oh yeah, the spreads don't move because that wouldn't be fair to all who play. It's a lot easier to keep track of too when you don't have individual pointspreads for every entry!
The Born Index has been surprisingly close. Most people still take the favorites though.

Thanks for the info!
Btw, I'm 93bluehen on GoHens. I was originally 93bluehen on AGS as well until a certain Sinophile banned me several years ago. I came back as my current moniker.

F the spread pool. That's gambling and luck.

It's where the skill comes in. C'mon, you figure everyone starts at at least 80% correct in the pick 'em. The vast majority of FCS games are very predictable as far as W/L. Calling the spread is far more difficult.
The problem people run into with the spread is when they think it's what Vegas (or whatever house) thinks will be the actual outcome of the game. You always need to remind yourself that the spread is the point where Vegas thinks equal money will be bet on each team.
