*NDSU AT UNI*

Who is going to win, and why?
This is a big matchup after the Bison win at KU. Sucks to start the season with a touch conference game. Especially for a young UNI team, after not playing in week 1.
I don't know what to expect from the Panthers this year, but I do know that there is plenty of talent on this young team, especially at the skill positions. And while I totally respect NDSU's win at Kansas, I think it could be a bit of fools gold beating a bad KU team with a new coach, winning without scoring a TD.
UNI 27-17.

Wait, UNI hasn't forfeited yet?
I heard NDSU is unbeatable this year.

I'll be amazed if our team even takes the field, Willie.

Still a giant question mark on the offense, from what I can tell, but it seems like our defense came to play. I don't have any real way to guess a score, so I'll just look at the name on my diploma and put:
NDSU - 23
UNI - 17

And....no love, make that not even a begrudging sense of half-assed respect for NDSU. Regardless of NDSU's struggles so far in the Missouri Valley, they have beaten multiple FBS schools and Montana as well over the course of the last few years. Certainly not the pansies and pushovers some of you seem to think they are. Too bad the U of M haven't scheduled em since NDSU beat em in Missoula. Maybe it'd cease all my Montana relatives talking smack about my North Dakota relatives - doubtful.

They're sneaky too. They pulled this trick play at SIU last year where they let us block a FG and then recover it for a TD.

Are we both thinking of the same NDSU that has made Indiana State and Western Illinois work for their last place in the conference the last two years? The same NDSU team that is 9-13 the last two years (six of those nine wins were against Indiana State x2, Wagner, Western Illinois, and Austin Peay, and Central Conneticut)?

Since this thread seems to be going to smack direction anyways, I'll just point out that, according to tvguide.com, it is actually:
"College Football:Northern Iowa at North Dakota State"
Pretty sure the game is still in Cedar Falls, but I guess we're going to go ahead and call it a Bison home game ahead of time.

You did that in 2008 too then lost.
Who cares what you call it, the result is going to be the same.

'tis a joke, friend, laugh a little.

Thought it was funny after the "bison home game" back and forth in 2008 that it actually is listed that way on the tv schedule (though KWWL's website does have it correct).

I forgot to add a

at the end of my post. I actually do that a lot. If I would add all of the smilies I should but don't I wouldn't come off like the ass that I do.
I'm thinking it will be a whale of a game....
UNI doens't return a lot of starting experience on the lines, but does have experience. Our skill positions on O and our LB/DB should be as good as they have been in the past. We bring back all but one starter in the defensive secondary (granted Quinton Scott was a huge part of our pass defense last year). We do lose Hodge and Mahoney in the LB core, but we have 6 LB who saw significant time in the past year due to the way we rotate. Our WR and RB core will be just as good as we were last year, maybe better since we may actually have a QB this year instead of a FB playing QB. I’m not sure who is going to start at QB for us, but I’m 95% sure I know who it is. Let’s just say I expect a lot more “speed options”, roll outs with run/pass options, and stretching of the field with our WR to clear space for our all American tight end and all conference FB/TE underneath and for our QB to make some plays.
We will be a much faster team than we have been in the past. The QB I think we start is a two time JUCO all American who set pretty much every school record for offense at his JUCO. I don’t know for a fact he will be starting though.
In order for NDSU to win you will have to put up more than 167 yards of offense and 2 FGs.

Don't know how much you've been lurking at bisonville, but Bohl used "it will be whale of a game" in one of his interviews about UNI and we all instantly worried that the season was doomed.
I really can't give much analysis as I haven't seen NDSU play yet, so I'll just stick with my homer pick of US more than You.

I lurked and posted more last year, only posted once this year and it was basically the samething I did here about the DB/LB/WR/RB.
I still read there though, which is why I threw the 'whale of a game' out there. I figured someone was bound to pick up on it.

This game will certainly be a step down in prestige from Lawrence Kansas and Memorial Stadium.
UNI struggled last year with a very experienced team. I for one didn't see a great offense when UNI put up 42 in Fargo. I saw a weak BISON defense. That offense lost a lot. NDSU will field a powerful, proven defense against an untested UNI offense.
the NDSU offense has a lot of experience. A lot of guys are back from the second best offense in the league. The O line looked good last week. Our running backs are good. Our receivers are experienced and we have a workman like QB that is comfortable in his role. UNI has a good TE, so does NDSU. The BISON are confident on this side of the ball too. UNI fans are assuring everyone the new guys will work out.
UNI has nothing but questions. NDSU has found a lot of answers.

That powerful offense that answered all the questions by putting up 2 FGs and 167 yards of offense?
UNI will be just fine. We struggled last year because of shitty leadership from a couple of the captains. That has changed

Like I said NDSU is a proven quantity. 400+yds revealed the UNI defense for what it was.
A very potent running game is going to bje revealed by the BISON.
UNI is full of question marks but have disposed of a couple bad captains is not much to hang your hat on.
If I were betting I would bet the facts not the boasting.

NDSU doesn't stand a chance, UNI owns the MVFC, CAA, Big Sky and most of the known football world. NDSU win over Kansas did not impress anyone in the Hawkeye state (as in Iowa Hawkeyes). Even Cap'n Putty Cat listed UNI as a 30 point favorite on AGS.

Your win over Kansas didn't impress me. It was a really shitty game on all sides.
It was a good win for the program, but impressive it wasn't.

Not true, check Bisonville...the average prediction is something like 24-10, and a lot of those predictions have UNI scoring only in scrub time as a pitty score.
UNI - 7
NDSU - ELEVENTY BILLION

How can that be if UNI owns the MVFC

NDSU belongs in the NFL apprently. They are too good for the FCS, and would probably pwn the FBS.
We don't stand a chance....after all you have 8 D2 titles from the 80's

I doubt many non-NDSU fans are picking NDSU in this game.
5 DII titles, 3 College Division, the same College Division that included UNI.
