Liberty @ Robert Morris

Liberty is definitely the better team on paper, but who knows what will happen. If this game was in Lynchburg and not right after we picked up our first FBS win in 21 years with #3 JMU the following week, I'd pick us by 20+. But, neither of those are the case.
Robert Morris is already calling this the biggest game in their school's history, so they'll be pumped. I think we play sloppy and come out flat, but we're too dangerous and our guys are too focused on the bigger prize to slip up. We win, but closer than it should be.

Liberty needs to make a statement this weekend. Run it up if they get the chance.
JMU v LU should be the Game of the Week on the 25th.

We're not gonna run it up

i'd hate to run it up. put in the backups and let them get a lot of reps in after a 2-3 touchdown lead

Why do we need to run it up? It will not happen, Rocco is not like that.

I get the feeling Coach Rocco has too much respect for Coach Walton and the Pittsburgh football community to let anyone get embarrassed.

I hope he does, this one could get pretty ugly. Seems like it would take a lot to go wrong for Liberty, and almost everything to go right for the Colonials for RoMo to win.

This is a huge game for RMU - the first non-conf scholarship team to visit Moon Township. I'd expect a big crowd for them.
I think this could go either way - a slow start for LU but pulling away in the 2nd half OR they jump out early lead and never let it get close. Either way, LU wins but hopefully RMU puts up a great effort.

Well RMU is playing well below my expectations for this year. Could it be another slow start?
One thing I am pretty confident about though is that RMU is better the St. Francis, so hopefuly they can keep it close.

I really don't expect a close game. I really expect a quick lead in the first half and a low scoring second half with all the backups (especially tyler brennan) in the game.

Liberty will win comfortably, but no blow out here.

No, VMI was at Robert Morris in 2007, won 40-13.
Has RMU erected any sort of seating on the "visitor's side", yet? Potentially, I believe, at least 7,000 would want to attend.

VMI isn't "scholarship" tho, is it?
Forgive me if I am wrong, it might have just been an assumption. But I didn't think VMI was handing out traditional athletic schollies.

As far as I know VMI has just as many scholarships as any other FCS team. It's just really tough to get players to agree to come and live the VMI RAT life.

The VMI Keydet Club has been around, raising money for athletic scholarships, since 1935.

True: we lost one of this year's class in late August.

RMU has to start fast in this game. If they allow Liberty to get up early in this game...it won't be 21-0 or 14-0 like the previous weeks...it will be 35-0 and Liberty will be playing their backups.
If the Colonials come out fast I think they can stay within striking distance. If Liberty allows RMU to play with them then its only going to grow the Colonial's confidence.
This will be a wake up game for the Colonials to give them a true taste of the talent they would face in the playoffs.

After St Francis I don't think Liberty will let a team get out fast again.

I either heard something wrong, or just assumed wrong, for 4 years now.

Here's hoping RMU can make a run at it. I'm not expecting much, but a close game would be nice.

This game shapes up to be a classic trap game for Liberty. After knocking off FBS Ball State last weekend and looking forward to a highly touted contest at James Madison next weekend, I hope our guys are able to to focus long enough to put RMU away early. I really don't think there is anywhere on the field that RMU will have an edge, but we don't want to let them Presby us. Go Flames!
