Elon @ Richmond

So the Phoenix come up to Richmond for the second straight year, as the two teams meet for the third straight season. Can UR continue their winning ways versus Elon? The Spiders lost more this off season, but will be flying high opening their new on campus stadium. This is a nice early season CAA-SoCon tilt between two similar schools with recent football success. How much will the emotion of the first game at Robins Stadium feature in this game, or will the revenge sought by the Phoenix override that? What say you Spider and Phoenix fans?

I'm hoping this is the year that we finally win the big one. I can't wait for Saturday. I think this will be a really good game.

I see the opening line is UR -8. I think UR will win, but would definitely take Elon and the points. This should be a whale of a game that is decided late in the 4th quarter.

Nice looking stadium.. but that 'track' is a big negative. As for the game.. should be a good one.. could go either way.

I'd be curious to know what Elon phans' perceive their deficiences to be.
Ours is clearly inexperience on the Offensive line.
Did Elon sustain any injuries last week?

Our DBs are pretty young, and they're rough around the edges. Our injuries are on the O-Line and at RB. The O-Line has played well though, but we're pretty thin at RB.

Thanks. How about your Run Defense?

Giving up 140 run yd/g It's pretty solid, we have a good DL and god LBs. The numbers aren't necessarily accurate because Duke ran 45 times against us, and Shaw (D-2) was behind and forced to throw all night.

You came all the way to Rhodes Stadium to snap a picture of our new banner, and you didn't let me know you were in town? We're never going to live that down here at Elon.

Time for Elon to step up and win a big game. Actually it's time for a SoCon team not from Boone to win a big OOC game. I think this will be the one for Elon....

Yeah that was pretty classic
Stadium looks good, not a big fan of the track either, at least Richmond can hang a national championship flag up
Third time is the charm for Elon against the Spiders, they win it late in the fourth.

Our LB corps is possibly the strongest group overall on the team. D line is good with experience but the loss of Campbell and Ludwig to graduation hurt a little. They are still decent against the run. Our DB's are very athletic & physical but are VERY young. Only 1 Sr. in the group, the rest are fr, rfr, & so. I expect them to be the most improved group at years end. The O is solid. I expected some dropoff from last year, but surprisingly, they have been capable. We lost Terrell Hudgins from last year but Jeffcoat, Mellette, Camp, Brown and others seem to have filled the void at WR nicely. Riddle continues to light it up. 281 yards passing against Duke and 244 yards against Shaw in less than 2 quarters. With the exception of Jamal Shuman, our #1 RB from last year who will not play against UR, most of our injuries are nicks and dings thank goodness.
I have the same questions about Richmond. Please reciprocate.

Why'd they build a track around a new stadium???

Is Martin Parker definitely healthy and playing? I see this game coming down to whether or not Richmond's defense can get Riddle out of a rhythm. The Phenises like to put the ball in the air. I think while Corp is still developing chemistry with his receivers in game speed, UR's defense needs to take the pressure off the O.

If memory serves me correctly, that track was already there. I think they built the stadium around the track.

Elon SHOULD win this game. However, knowing how they tend to suck ass in big games, I'd say Richmond wins. Prove me wrong, Christians.
