'Discretion' is a helluva term. Boiling Springs is a dry town too. Mix your drinks accordingly. :D

My 'discretion' during my days there was to keep a fifth of Beam or Crown in my golf bag in my dorm room, where nobody ever bothered to look during 'room inspections', but miracously, all my hallmates knew exactly where to help themselves.

Yep...pour in a cup and you will be fine. I've yet to see anyone actually looking for violators....but I wouldn't want to be the first one busted. Come by our tailgate under the trees behind the visitors stands and say "Hi". We'll share a cup with ya!!

Plastic cups, preferably Runnin Bulldog Red and a little discretion and moderation should cause you no troubles. Open display and you might be asked to put it away. There is nothing illegal about adult possession of alcohol even in dry towns or counties you just can't purchase there, open container in pubic places may be a local or state statutory issue. Not really any different than tobacco free environments which GWU is also as are most places these days.

At last weeks GWU @ Akron (Public Institution) game, alcohol consumption in non-designated lots was illegal under Ohio state law per Akron's printed policy. Designated tailgate lots were okay and cost you $10 vs $5 for standard public parking lots. Apparently the tailgating lots were permitted to allow alcohol consumption. There are restrictions everywhere it's just about whether you choose to adhere, be discreet or openly disrespectful of the institution's rules.

When App played in Boiling Springs in 2006, I saw hundreds of people drinking - both App and GW fans. Heck, I walked right up to the gate with a beer, past police officers and university people with a beer can in my hand and tossed it out in a trash can just before going in the gate. Things may have changed some since then, but no one bothered us.

I will try to say hello on my way in. The CC is tailgating at the soccer practice field.

GWU is an alcohol free and tobacco free campus. So, here is how I roll before kick-off.

Leave it to ElCid83 to put things in proper prospective. Sorta like the Patrick Henry statement "Give Me Liberty or Give me Death", ElCid83 says I'll have my beer and my cigar and if you don't like it you can kiss my a%$#^. :thumb:

After all isn't beer really just a marinade for grilling and a cigar a lighting stick for the grill?

Eagle Dawg: According to Akron's Athletic Department, alcohol even in "designated" "tailgate parking lots" was illegal to consume. They just don't enforce unless one gets "out of hand"
