Liberty @ JMU

Liberty had their big I-A win and then their let down last week. JMU had their big BCS win and then had last week off thank goodness, so I don't expect much letdown at home vs Liberty. Robert Morris rushed for 146 vs Liberty, and that included -23 in sack yardage. Don't know if JMU will rush for over 300 against the Flames like last yr, but do expect the Dukes to move the ball well on the ground and Dudzik should be able to pass effectively against the Flames as they gave up 271 in the air to Robert Morris. The JMU defense, while not very big, maybe the fastest they've ever had, and could possibly be the best (and that's from Mickey himself). In the 1st 3 qts vs Morehead only gave up 53 yds (yeah, I know, Morehead blows) before going up 48-0 and putting in mostly 3rd string on defense. Gave up 362 to VT, but thats still pretty darn good as VT put up 314 against Boise and 448 on Sat @ ECU.
Think JMU wins this by 3-4 TDs.

I respectfully disagree
Liberty will have a fire up there butt that we probably wont see again until post season play and maybe not even then. I think Liberty will put in more effort in this game than any other game in the regular season. That includes more effort than what we put in at Ball St. I think it'll be a very close game. By the way checked the weather there's suppose to be scattered T-storms with 30% chance of rain. Not so much worried about the rain as I am lightning. That could ruin the day for a lot of people...

We outgained Ball State on the Road and only gave up 145 rushing yards to them (I know I said only, but they're a run first team). We also held them to 27% 3rd downs. We held the ball for 30 minutes despite 3 turnovers. If we play like that, without the turnovers, we'll be right there in this game. I think we'll go back to the defense we ran against BSU and force MM to dial up some passes, which I don't know if we'll stop, but we'll definitely be more effective against the run. We play a TON of 3 man fronts against RMU, obviously thinking we'd just outmuscle them, and we didn't. I don't think we believe we can come out and outmuscle you guys, so I think you'll see bigger front 7's with 4 linemen and a stacked box with Chris Mayo, a very good tackler, playing up in run support from his safety position.
I can't pick against LU, but I think that this game will be decided by single digits, either way.

Yeah no way JMU wins by 20+. That's what JMU fans were thinking last year. If you think that, you're letting the RMU game cloud your vision too much. I know you can't ignore it, but that game was not the real LU team. You will see the real LU team on Saturday. I'm not saying we win, but it won't be decided until the 4th quarter.

I didn't think you Liberty folks gambled, but sure. Rounding to the nearest TD, how does JMU -18.5 sound? (I think a 19 point win would be close enough to 3 TDs to fit within my 3-4 TD prediction). According to someone on the CAAZone, the line isn't up on 5dimes yet.

With Liberty's mind-boggling inconsistency these past two weeks, I'm not sure how any prediction is laughable at this point.
As a JMU fan, I have no idea what to expect.

Since when would 18.5 pts fall in the 3-4 TD margin?
I agree that the inconsistency of the Flames the past couple of weeks makes this one tough to call.

Rounded to the nearest TD. When someone wins by 19-23, I say they won by 3 TDs. You could call 17-18 2/12 TDs.
Now I realize with some people I have to be more specific, instead of saying 3-4 TDs, I should have said 19-30 points.

Gotta account for homefield for the Dukes, is 3 points still the number?
I'd take LU if the line was JMU -21.5. Not for much, but I'd put a couple bucks in just to make someone have to pay me to be right.

And I am MORE than willing to make a forum bet on this game. Wearing a JMU avatar or making all my posts in purple, for example.
Any JMU'er wanna bet JMU -13.5 on a avatar bet (wear the other team's avatar through the end of the season)? First come first serve. Unless a few of you are feeling bold enough.

To the Liberty fans: All I hear about is what you did to BSU. I can honestly say that a BAD MAC team would likely finish under .500 in the CAA. I don't want to hear anymore about what you did to BSU......

Liberty will keep it close for three quarters but JMU will take care of business when it matters. JMU over Falwell U, something like 31-20.

If a team scores
3 TDs, misses an extra point and 2 point conversion and wins 19-0, did they still win by
3 TDs?
A TD is worth 6 points. So yes, 18.5 falls within 3 TDs

Who knows which Liberty team shows up - the one who went to Ball State and won or the Flames squad from this past weekend. Either way I don't think it matters. Dukes win in the 10-14 point range.

Makes perfect sense. Under that mindset, if I were to say the Flames would stay within 3 to 4 scores I would mean 6 to 8 points.

This game will be over by halftime. JMU should start to focus on Delaware..
