Notes:
• It’s still early in the season, but this week’s battle between the No. 5 ranked University of Delaware and No. 3
James Madison looms big not only for the Colonial Athletic Association title picture but also as it pertains to potential post-season opportunities. Two undefeated, Top 5 ranked squads face each other in Harrisonburg, Va. for the biggest conference matchup so far this season.
• Bridgeforth Stadium is the only CAA venue where UD head coach K.C. Keeler has never won a game (0-3)
• Last Season: Delaware's three-game win streak came to an abrupt end before a soggy Homecoming crowd at
Delaware Stadium as James Madison's struggling offense came to life in the second half and the Dukes defense
posted eight sacks on the way to a 20-8 CAA victory. The 16th-ranked Blue Hens, who had put up 92 points over
the last two games, could manage just two Jon Striefsky field goals and a late safety as the Dukes won their first
league game of the season and snapped a four-game losing streak. JMU redshirt freshman QB Justin Thorpe, who
had struggled the last month as the Dukes scored just 27 points during the four-game skid, including going 12
straight quarters without a touchdown, was virtually unstoppable in the second half and finished with 262 yards and
a touchdown on 11 of 15 passing. He completed just 2 of his 4 passes for 33 yards in the first half before coming
alive in the second stanza and leading the Dukes to 386 total yards on the day.

I'm going to try and limit the threads too. But our athletic department just "tweeted" that tickets were on sale from this game because of tickets returned by opponent. I thought that was weird. Can any Delaware folks confirm that?

Nevermind, just read on GoHens about the away game ticket policy UD has in place. That stinks.

Yep. Only UDAF-donating season ticket holders can purchase away game tickets. Our athletic department is doing their best to reduce the fan base.

As for the tickets, I'm sure we've returned a few before. Typically get 1k to 2k fans down to JMU in any given year. Plenty of people buy directly through JMU rather than UD's allottment so there's always those folks to add in.
As for the policy, I can see some rationale behind it. If you aren't a UD season ticket holder, how do they even know you're a UD fan? In the past, anyone could call the UD ticket office and get a ticket from the visiting team's allottment. WIth UD being such a small state and with so many out of state alums, it's not like you could even do what other schools do and limit sales to in-state people. If people really wanted to go to this game there were tickets available early on, even with it being Parent's Day down there. If you didn't get them, eh, dem's the breaks.

I hear ANDY has a few pointers about the game of soccer and a new drink that he loves. Might be worth a PM.

Darn Fall baseball is the problem in my neck of the woods - darn these kids and their own hobbies! And again, I'll be on a score-blackout as the baseball game conflicts with the football game so it'll be me and my TiVo later in the afternoon.
On the bright side, the calendar is remarkably clear for December so I'll be all ready for that string of home games in the Tub at that time of the year!

This should be a fun game. I DVRd Hen/Spider game. I have to say that the Hens look very good with lots of balance. Haven't seen JMU play but if they beat the Hens they must be pretty darned good.

Delaware's offensive line has grown up and it's now paying dividends - 4 Jr's and a Sr on the line and they are clearly controlling the line of scrimmage. Throw in two good tight ends and a RB in Pierce who can do it all out of the backfield (run, catch, and most importantly, block) and it's just real tough to defend UD. I don't think Pierce gets his 100 yards this week, but I don't think it'll matter - I don't think JMU can get to Devlin this year and that just opens up a world of possibilities in the passing game.

Yea, you can tell we're down near the goal line, with the temp. endzone seating behind him. I'll see what I have. Not much... I will say that even in those seats they've adjusted the angles so you can see the whole field easily. It's really nice.

Here's one from our seats with "the boy" trying to look a little closer...
You can't see much of the stands, but you can see the angle of the seat..You can also see my thumb...stupid cell phone camera.

It is great having the endzone sideline seats angled in. I am defintely going to block the date next year to see the new digs. Did you hear that UD is coming to H'burg again next year?

I never got final confirmation, but I had heard rumblings...

We are actually Row W, so it's a ways away. And the camera obviously makes it look further than it is.

Not worthy of its own thread, but I just had a Delaware guy walk out of my office - I had to let him know that UD has a good team.

He was asking if UD and ASU had played yet this season
Not beating on the Hens in particular, but I just don't get guys that don't follow it at least a LITTLE bit.....

It's just the way it is at our level. We just hired a new Liberty grad that couldn't care less about last week's game. Facebook lit up with JMU "fans" that I'm positive had ZERO clue that we were even playing Tech that day.
My tailgate group has a newly married couple. She is the friend and graduated from JMU, went to law school in Charlottesville and lives there now. He went to UD and is an accountant in Charlottesville. He is a die hard Notre Dame fan! He actually can't make it to this weekend's game, but was ready to wear his purple and gold to the game. The fans that are dedicated like the ones on this board are fewer and farther between than we think. And that includes a lot of the fans in the stands.
