Official Wofford vs Furman thread
The flurpes head to Gibbs Stadium, new video board and all, to play Wofford in what seems to be Wofford's first FCS test of the year. For more information see my signature.

I wish I was in town this weekend - that would be a good one to scout during ASU's bye week.

Do you really want to go to a high school stadium 2 weeks in a row???ASUG8 wrote:I wish I was in town this weekend - that would be a good one to scout during ASU's bye week.
Re: Official Wofford vs Furman thread
The fans may be invisible, but some decent football gets played much of the time. I'm curious to see what FU brings to the table this season, and that confounding triple option/wingbone doohickey WoCo runs is always entertaining.SpeedkingATL wrote:Do you really want to go to a high school stadium 2 weeks in a row???ASUG8 wrote:I wish I was in town this weekend - that would be a good one to scout during ASU's bye week.![]()

What are the thoughts of the large-weinered Wofford fan on this game?

Re: Official Wofford vs Furman thread
we had decent attendance against Union....I expect the home side to be packed against Furman and pretty loud as well. And the "High School Stadium" has a new Jumbo-tron that will blow you away (second biggest in the State of SC)ASUG8 wrote:The fans may be invisible, but some decent football gets played much of the time. he is definitely not a grad or a student from wofford. he was probably a high school teammate and or friend of brian kass in raleigh. either way, his knowledge of wofford football is limited at best and he knows nothing of what he speaks. IF we have a winning season, we would be tickled pink!!! we still have depth challenges at several positions due to some more injuries this year and our offense hasn't been clicking on all cylinders yet. maybe with time our execution will improve. i sure hope so!

It sucks that you guys got hit with the injury bug 2 years in a row. Last year you guys had a good team, but lots of injuries. Hopefully you guys can stay healthier the rest of the way this year.crabbyterrier wrote:PenthouseClosedEnd wrote:What are the thoughts of the large-weinered Wofford fan on this game?

Re: Official Wofford vs Furman thread
Ayers gets more out of his players year in and year out than just about any coach on the planet. The Ankle-biters always come to play and are never to be taken lightly. I would expect this game to be much closer than many anticipate and if Wofford can limit the turnovers they could pull the upset. Citadel ran up a lot of yardage and TOP against Furman using an option based attack, they just couldn't hold on to the ball.crabbyterrier wrote:PenthouseClosedEnd wrote:What are the thoughts of the large-weinered Wofford fan on this game?

Re: Official Wofford vs Furman thread
I am sure there is no need to but a reminder that Wofford and Furman played the first college football game in the state of South Carolina.
1889 I believe. I was just a youngster then and my memory is not so good.

Citdog could probably testify to the accuracy of this statement...he was alive in 1861 correct?OL FU wrote:I am sure there is no need to but a reminder that Wofford and Furman played the first college football game in the state of South Carolina.

But oh well that's what boards are for
Re: Official Wofford vs Furman thread
Until I read the Wofford board some this week, I had no idea our little brothers in Sparkle City hated us Paladins so much. Oh well. Here's to running up the score on them again this year.
