Albany vs. SFPA - The Flash can play a solid half of football, but Albany will just be too much by the 4th Q.

*Bryant vs. Sacred Heart- Pioneers are better than their record, (but Bryant has a solid running game and is very good at homes so I think they hold on in a close one).

CCSU vs. Duquesne - Dukes are good, but their strenght (passing) plays right into CCSU's D. Blue Devils can do a lot on offense themselves and will be too much for Duquesne to overcome on the long road trip.

Monmouth @ RMU - Hawks were a nice suprise last week, but I'm not sure they have the gas to get it done on their trip out to Moon Township.

Wagner @ Georgetown - Seahawks are an enigima, but Dorcher will be the best player on the field, and I'm not sure if the Hoyas will have an answer.

*10/6 - changed to reflected home team

Albany vs. St. Francis Pa.; Albany coming off a solid win vs. Yale should win this one at home by a comfortable margin. Albany 34-10
Bryant vs. Sacred Heart: I expect this to be a fairly close game with the Bulldogs getting the W at home. Bryant 24-17
CCSU vs. Duquesne: Close call. CCSU by a FG. CCSU 24-21
Monmouth @ RMU: Mild upset. The Hawks got a taste of victory last week and keep it going in Moon Twp. Monmouth 27-17
Wagner @ Gerogetown: With big wins over Lafayette and Holy Cross, the Hoyas are off to a better than expected start. Wagner at 2-2 is better than their record but needs to start winning the turnover battles to be a NEC contender. Wagner 31-20.

Albany vs. SFPA - The truest homecoming ever for the Danes this week. We are the last Division I team (FCS and FBS) in the nation to play a home game. The weather is supposed to be perfect (high 60s and sunny) and the crowd could get over the 7,000 mark (even though only 2,000 or so will actually be able to see the whole field). My tailgate starts at 9:00am so I'll be nice and friendly by game time.

Now on to the game - the Danes got some confidence back at Yale after the Duqeuesne debacle. I'm hopeful we can get a solid lead early so our backup QB (who I think should be our starter) can get a chance to really show what he's got. I'm not sure that's going to happen though. I can see a tight first half and then Albany pulling away. As tough as the trip is going out to Loretta, its even tougher to come east and play at Albany's homecoming.

Oh and BTW, we have never lost to SFPA. 11-0 so far.

Bryant vs. Sacred Heart - Bryant is usually tough at home and this is their homecoming . I'm not sure what happened the last two weeks, but I think they get their acts together now.

CCSU vs. Duquesne - If Duquesne can limit the turnovers they will win. Its hard to beat anyone if you throw 6 picks in one game. This one will be close though.

Monmouth @ RMU - RMU will not throw 6 ints. The Colonials are on the brink of a national ranking and getting back to the NEC glory days they enjoyed in the late 90's/early 2000's with Tim Levcik. As mentioned above, that trip out west is tough. Its even tougher when RMU is good. Advantage RMU.

Wagner @ Georgetown - This is a toss-up to me. I cannot put the Assumption loss behind me. And I know they beat Fordham as well and Fordham beat URI, but Wagner got rolled by Assumption. Anyway, G'town may be thinking to themselves that their first 4 games were a fluke. And as we all know - anytime Nick Doscher is in the game, Wagner has a chance to beat anyone. NEC homer pick. I'd really like to see the NEC go to 3-1 on the year vs. the Patriot and I think its possible here.

Week 6 Games
Albany vs. SFPA - This is probably the easiest pick of the week, and I think Albany wins fairly easily. They have to be feeling better after the win last week and will ride the momentum.

Bryant vs. Sacred Heart - I hate to pick Bryant now 6! weeks in a row, but they should be 4-1 and not 3-2. SHU's QB lit Bryant up last year and will probably throw all over them again this year, but SHU seems pretty bad and Bryant has the advantage of going back home and playing on real grass in front of, hopefully, a big and loud homecoming crowd. I think they continue the trend of jumping out early, but in this game they hold on.

CCSU vs. Duquesne - I think CCSU is the team to beat in the NEC right now, they made Bryant look foolish and seem to be getting the offense and defense clicking after losing some players. Duquesne took a hard hit last week and unfortunately for them they take another hard hit this week.

Monmouth @ RMU - RMU should be better than Monmouth. Monmouth had a good win last week, but this is a pretty long trip and RMU has been great since the Liberty win. I think the game is close and RMU gets the winning score late.

Wagner @ Georgetown - I am just rooting for Wagner. Georgetown is having a good season and 2 weeks ago looked like a PL contendor for the playoffs. I think Wagner wins by about 10.

Albany vs. SFPA - I believe that St. Francis will put up a good fight, but fade (again) down the stretch.

Bryant vs. Sacred Heart - I had been hoping for more from Sacred Heart this season. The Bulldogs will be too much for the Pioneers.

CCSU vs. Duquesne - Wow. I thought that after the Monmouth debacle last week, I would be the only one picking the Dukes this week! The Monmouth game exposed Duquesne's major weakness - lack of experience/depth at the QB position. (What good is it to have outstanding receivers if your QB can't get the ball to them?) Monmouth is a very good team, but hopefully last week was the major stumble for the Dukes this year. (Just like Albany hopes that their loss to Duquesne was their major stumble, or like Dayton hopes that their loss to Duquesne was their major stumble.) What is considered to be the Dukes second strongest position - Linebacker - also let them down last week. Patterson is back at QB. The linebackers have (hopefully) pulled their heads out of their butts. And while a victory on the road in New Britain will be challenge, I have to go with my healthy, pissed-off Dukes in this one.

Monmouth @ RMU - If this game were in West Long Branch I would be tempted to pick the Hawks, but at Joe Walton Stadium I expect Joe Walton's boys to prevail.

Wagner @ Georgetown - I'm always pulling for Georgetown, but I think that Wagner will actually show up for this one and pull out an NEC victory.

Homecoming schedule just out says the parking lot opens at 7:30 am. Don't think I can talk the bride into getting there that early but should be there by ten.

Usual spot UA? Or are you changing your spot because of the Varsity Club tailgate move?

Any idea what the "UAlbany Football Tailgate" is?

Planning on the usual spot, unless that's where they put the band.

Albany vs. SFPA
Albany's 1st home game and it's Homecoming. I see Albany coming out of the gates strong but hopefully they don't over look SFPA and are thinking about RMU next week.
SFPA will play Albany tough and keep it closer than fans want but in the end Albany will pull away.

Albany 31-17

Bryant vs. Sacred Heart
Bryant at home and who is the last team to beat Bryant at home...Sacred Heart in 09.
If SHU has any chance on Saturday they must control Bryant's rushing attack lead by Jordan Brown. SHU played CCSU tough in the 1st half.
I believe this game will come on to a late FG in the 4th. SHU can pass the ball and Bryant in last in the NEC in Scoring Defense (30pts per game) and next to last in Pass Defense.

Bryant 24-23

CCSU vs. Duquesne
CCSU's rushing attack will wear down the Dukes. That is a long road trip and not sure if the Dukes are ready to rebound off their performance against Monmouth. If the Dukes strike fast and force CCSU out of their game plan then they have a real chance at showing the NEC that the Dukes are for real this year.

CCSU 27-24

Monmouth @ RMU
Robert Morris at home is going to be tough for Monmouth. Russ is having a great year and Sinclair is quietly showing that he could be the best QB in the NEC this year.
A win for Monmouth would erase that early season defeats but RMU at home is just too tough.

RMU 31-20

Wagner @ Georgetown
If GU can get pressure on Doscher while containing his running lanes and using only 4 DL to get pressure then Wagner could be in for a long game.
I'm not sure what Wagner team is going to show up. But I'll do a NEC homer pick here....but would not be surprise if GU won.

Wagner 24-20

Wow. Some exciting, close games so far.

A disallowed Duquesne 2-point conversion with no time left gives CCSU a 31-29 victory. (Apparently the Duquesne receiver had stepped out of bounds before his reception.)

RMU blocks Monmouth's Field Goal attempt with six seconds left to preserve a 17-16 victory.

Sacred Heart currently leading Bryant 17-7 at the end of the 3rd Q.

One cannot say that NEC football is not exciting! :thumb:

Agreed.

Dukes played a good game, but as you can see the CCSU run D is bad. A stupid fake FG and we couldn't get 1 1st down in that last drive. I think the Blue Devils are going to make a huge push after their bye week.

Monmouth lost to PL-favorite by 1 point and Maine by just 8. I think this team is much better than their record.

Same with SHU. throwing 6 INTs vs St. Francis is bad, but they missed a FG to beat Dartmouth and lost to RMU by 4.

Finally, the NEC has some parity and its no longer Albany, Monmouth, CCSU, then everyone else (as it has been for the last 4 or 5 years).

Great to see parity...but one constant remains; The Red Flash look awful against the upper tier.

The game against Albany today was/is just really bad....

So pissed I left the game to go enjoy the other homecoming festivities.... Bryant was down 24-7 with about 8 minutes left in the game in a 4 minute span Bryant has scored 3 TD's to make it 25-24 Bryant. 4 left in the game.

Bryant held on 25-24 in the end. SHU FG went wide right on a 50yd, 40yd, and 39yd.
