Wofford coach incident at GSU game-true or false?

Did a Wofford coach really flip a bird to the crowd at Georgia Southern, or is this just a story perpetrated by a bitter fan? I find it hard to believe that this actually happened. Is there anyone here from GSU who actually SAW this? It does not sound like something any of the coaches currently at Wofford would ever do no matter what the situation.

1. The witnesses have already been named, looking for further witnesses on a national board is just trolling.
2. You have already been told on Woffy's board and at GSU fans about the incident. Why are you trolling?

There's a thread about it on GSUFANS, and it would seem that it was an equipment manager, not a member of the coaching staff.

Okay, thanks. That I can definitely believe. He's just a kid. I'm sure he has been dealt with appropriately.

I don't read the GSU message boards.

Its a pretty interesting read for someone not involved at all. Synopsis to save now 8 pages of reading: some think its ok to berate the players and coaches for 3 1/2 hours and not expect any retaliation. When they get retaliation, its classless behavior by the offender and they should be punished. It was put best by one of the early posters, "sounds like some of you can dish it but can't take it". Its just mindless drivel from there.

I wasn't there, I have no idea of what did or did not happen. I'm just commenting on the thread from gsufans.

I find it very hard to believe that Georgia Southern fans would conduct themselves in a manner that would push someone to want to flip them off. That's just unconscionable.

my take on such things:
fans taunting/berating opposing players/coaches is classless, but probably happens just about everywhere (that doesn't make it "okay", but it does make it something that players/coaches at this level should probably learn to deal with).

coaches/players/other teammembers retaliating with verbal retorts or gestures is unprofessional, and should probably be avoided (besides, acknowledging the opposing fans only creates a distraction and eggs them on further, best to just ignore them). However, if a coach or player does break down and flip the bird or say something, I don't think it calls for any sort of repercussions other than perhaps a talking-to by their superior.

Of course, people whining about it on a message board isn't really a "repercussion" anyway. it's just the typical drivel that takes place on message boards, just like arguments of uniform details or turf color.

There's some guy from the Midwest in the Locker Room looking at joining. You may want to sell your membership to him.

Hey Bobby,
Is it true that the vendors must remove the tops from water bottles sold in the stadium to prevent fans from throwing full bottles at the opposing team?

I opened this thread with the expectation that Mike Ayers finally lost it and went all Ku Fung on a redneck hotdog.

Very disappointing. ;)

Hey Bobby,
Are you a member of MENSA? Apparently it's pretty prestigious. At least according to the midwestern mafia.

I certainly hope so. And I hope that Edmondson chick is in charge of welcoming new members.

Too bad Bobby won't be there to find out. Poor guy.

Not sure how this is news.

Visiting players, coaches, equipment managers have been doing this for years at Delaware Stadium. The fans just get on them more.

Section J could have more to say about this.

The smart players just pay attention to the game. But every now and then someone lets the crowd get to them and then it is all over.

This is a non issue.
