No FG?
A few yr's ago I saw Utah State punt it on the opposing team's 24 yard line. LOL!! That was hilarious. Why go for a FG when you could just punt it in the back of the endzone and move the ball up 4 yrds. ha ha

Let the clock run out?
When Weber played UNC earlier this year, the score was tied I think 34-34, UNC had 2nd and 6 to go on about their own 40 with close to a minute left. It was a high scoring game and UNC drove the field at will all night. So on 2nd down they let the clock run out and decide to take their chance in overtime. And of course they lost. Had they driven another 20-30 yds they coulda kicked an FG and maybe won. Not trying makes that game worth mentioning.

That one last shot of jaeger on top of the half rack, 3 brats, bowl of chili, chips and clam dip, and jello shooters. See it all the time.

Finally putting the seccond team and next starting qb of our team into the game after the starter had just finished fumbling and throwing a pic with 9 min left to play only for him to drive the ball 70 yards to the 3 yard line in 2 min and yank him and put the starting qb back in the game and what does he do..loses 5 yards on the next play.. su...then our defense once again gives a shot..and who does our coach put back in the game well lets just say that he put the guy that got us in a 14-0 hole and he did what he did the entire game...throw and int when we still had 3 timeouts and 4 min to play an only had to go 30 yards...

First and Goal on the one...and FOUR attempts to run the ball up the gut of a good defense...

Colorado State did the same thing against Weber last yr. All 4 plays stuffed by Weber. One of my fav WSU moments since I was sitting front row on the goal line. But was pretty dumb play calling.

Our O-line play needs to improve...A LOT!

Running a flea flicker play on fourth and inches from your own 40 using a running style quarterback that you know can only throw the ball 30 yards (at best). I have not found to be critical of Burton so far this year, but this one made me scratch my head. I had accused Glanville repeatedly of making the game more difficult than it really is, but this play had Glanville written all over it. It was not a typical Burton play.

Kicking two squib kicks in 2 minutes, to allow the game winning (or game losing I should say) td twice.

reminds me of Patriots once. 1st and goal from the 1 and they had Bledsoe pass 4 times and turned the ball over on downs. Personally I like the idea of running from the one more than passing... but its good to change it up a bit... if after doing the sme thing three times, I think they know what your going to do the fourth time.

From the 3 yard line we got 4 chances and about 20 or so seconds to score. 2 spiked balls, one sack and a blocked field goal. REALLY? I'm not a coach..don't want to be..but our QB is like 6'4" and we needed just a few feet to score. The inability to call a good play or at least attempt to run it in amazes me. Overall bad game...Bears bounce back next week.

To describe the situation, UNC, down 23-16, comes down and scores a touchdown with 1:09 left. Does Downing kick the extra point and go to OT at home? No, he tries a fake extra point that involves the center snapping the ball to a guy behind the "swinging gate" who then runs it in. The play had worked earlier in the game.

Needless to say, it didn't the second time, the ball never made it to the guy who was supposed to run it in, as NAU picked it up and took it for a defensive 2-point conversion.

Not having seen this game, I'd want to see what USU's personnel situation was at the time. If their kicker was injured and none of the backups had any leg, I could see punting. The problem with this is that given the fact that at FBS, one is allowed over 100 players. (Of course, not all are schollie players.) That implies that one could have more than one kicker. In this situation, one is looking at a 41-yard FG. That's not always a chip shot, so if one is on a backup kicker, I could see punting. But one had BETTER make sure the punter understands that he MUST kick to the corner. Hanging it over the goalline is just asking for a four-yard net.

See the last game with UNLV and Bobby Hauck.....Backed up in your own end of the field and down big...calling a fake punt....

Ask Yale fans about last year's Harvard game; Yale up 10-7, 2 1/2 minutes left, 4th and 22 on their own 25. Coach calls for a fake punt. Punter runs for 15.

A few plays later Harvard hits a 32-yd. touchdown pass, wins 14-10.

First drive of the 2nd half, App leading Elon by three. Elon drives the field down to the 1. In some order there was a QB sneak stuffed, a RB dive stuffed, a false start and an incomplete pass to set up 4th and goal from the six. Instead of kicking to tie the game, they go for it. Riddle throws a three-yard pass that is dropped. It wouldn't have made it anyway.

Oh lets just take it to overtime and see what happens Me personally, Bobby Lamb holding up two fingers works for me

QB scrambles for ~15 yards, good enough for 1st down in the red zone, then decides to stay inbounds and try to power through a defender, ends up fumbling and was pretty luck not to be injured :S Then does almost the same thing about 10 minutes later, with the same result.

Remember when he did that in Bozeman last year? Was awesome! Probably felt bad about how terrible their offense was and decided to gift a few points

I got curious and did some research:

Inexplicably, Texas State head coach David Bailiff told his squad to take a knee and the final 1:16 went off the clock without even an attempt to move the ball down the field. Texas State had all three timeouts and seemed happy with its chances in overtime.

One of the best jokes I've ever read.
