First round bye means being in the top 12.

Yes, SFA controls their own destiny for that.

To get a seed means being top 5, and it's my opinion that SFA also controls their own destiny for that.

So yes, on all accounts.

For a bye? 100% yes

For a seed? They might need some help

How would they need some help? I think they are in a good position.

Weakness of the Southland. The winner of the CAA and App State are pretty much locks for seeds right now. Then you've got Jacksonville State who will probably get one if they run the table thanks to the Ole Miss win. So then it comes down to Stephen F Austin, a 9-2 EWU/MSU/UM team, and a 2nd CAA team.

So we're potentially gonna see something like this:

1) Delaware 10-1 (at-large)
2) App State 10-1 (AQ)
3) Jacksonville State 11-0 (AQ)
4) William and Mary 9-2 (AQ)
5) Eastern Washington 9-2 (AQ)

Or

1) Wofford 10-1 (AQ)
2) Jacksonville State 11-0 (AQ)
3) Nova 9-2 (AQ)
4) William and Mary 9-2 (at-large)
5) App State 9-2 (at-large)

Too bad you can't change the to a larger number, like 4,000,000,000,000,000 or something like that. That would be a hoot.

I tried.

This is the longest SFA thread not to include a Towson, JMU or female poster.

A better question would have been, " is SFA excited to come to Missoula again?"

I think the committee would rather give it to a team that would get more than 10k for home playoff games. Seriously.

Hey, I agree. Then again, if we earn it... just look at Villanova last year.

ANSWER!

The SLC will be in and out of the playoffs before you can finish a good bottle of Jack Daniels. SFA may be ranked high but I'm afraid they, again, will be exposed when they go up against a good, all-around team.

HAHA, I figured CatMom had something negative to say... Its all good i understand. All do respect, that wasnt the question i asked... I asked about our playoff seedings, not how well we will do in the playoffs. Hope to see you in Nac this weekend! :D

Not going to make the game. It's a long drive and I couldn't get a hotel room and I checked 6 weeks ago. Everything was booked. It's not a trip I want to do in a day. I'd have to stay overnight, as I would be doing all the driving. Just didn't happen.

As for the seeding. It's a toss up. TXST was ranked 4th in 2005 and was seeded 4th. Sometimes the committee actually follows that pattern. SFA wins out...only has 1 loss and having been ranked in the top 10 all year....it would be biased (IMHO) if they seeded a 9-2 higher than a 10-1 (FBS loss) SFA. However, my playoff prediction still stands.

Attendance has nothing to do with seed assignments.

That being said, I don't think any Big Sky team has much shot at a seed. I'm guessing several teams would have to lose and/or a couple would have to lose twice.

If they have a choice to make between Montana or SFA for a seed I can promise you Montana gets the seed.

SFA is only averaging about 9K per home game. IF push comes to shove the team with the higher attendance gets the seed

Now I know you're lying.

Also, I don't understand all the hate from the other SLC schools is coming from. You're having a down year? Sad, but don't rain on our parade. Its my prediction that SFA will get a seed and win its first round. National champs? I don't see that with this team but they are very good and I believe they'll still be very competitive once Moses is gone.

Well, in fairness, it is homecoming weekend. I didn't try to get a hotel this year, but last year I had hell trying to find one and the wife and I ended up at a little bed & breakfast place that turned out to be real nice. But hotels go real quick.

As far as the seeding goes. If SFA wins out. I think they get a seed. Keep in mind, in these attendance numbers, SFA hasn't had there homecoming yet and that will provide a significant boost to avg. attendance. Also, I'm pretty sure that I read in another post in this forum, that SFA has an avg of over 10K so far this year.
