Does anyone know if this game is being made up or is GSU just buying out of the home-and-home?

It was announced by GSU last week that the trip to NDSU had been replaced by a home game against Presbyterian which for GSU is smart scheduling.TheHerd wrote:It is still on our chedule. I hope you guys don't buy it out, it would be a good game. Plus yushould want some revenge.
Well that sucks! We like seeing good teams on our OOC schedule. Would you really rather play Presbyterian??? I hope not. Why do you say it is smart scheduling, because it would be a guaranteed win over a patsy?blueballs wrote:It was announced by GSU last week that the trip to NDSU had been replaced by a home game against Presbyterian which for GSU is smart scheduling.TheHerd wrote:It is still on our chedule. I can only envision one scenario where GSU makes a trip to Fargo and that would be for a playoff game. My only regret is that NDSU didn't get to play against GSU's triple option with Foster at QB and Covington at FB in 2006 because what they defeated was a piss poor imitation of GSU football.
Smart scheduling because it replaces a 1000+ mile road trip against a tough opponent with a home game against a lesser opponent. It also gives GSU six home games next year... IMO this improves GSU's playoff chances next year as the conference road slate will be tough with trips to App, Wofford, Sammy Ford, and Elon. GSU also has an OOC game against the fightin' Nick Sabans next year... so you can see why this change is desirable.TheHerd wrote:Well that sucks! We like seeing good teams on our OOC schedule. Thanks for the update. I was hoping to see you again and meet some of the other GSU fans on here. Looks like I may be on the West Coast anyway.blueballs wrote:Smart scheduling because it replaces a 1000+ mile road trip against a tough opponent with a home game against a lesser opponent. St. Franics will likely take the paycheck, if they have an opening.mebison wrote:Stealing this from BV, these teams are open that week (some good options in here):

Who wants to come to Fargo? GSU is buying!
MPLS Bison is that you?lakesbison wrote:What a bunch of sissy southerners
Not unless you get a new playing surface. That was part of the deal from what I heard.FargoBison wrote:GSU will pay us $60,000, right now Savannah State is thinking about coming up here I guess. Our AD's first call was to UND, but they were full. Too bad that could have been epic, JBB's threads about that matchup would have been pure gold.
We do have the Griz scheduled in 2014, our AD said the buyout for that game is $200,000.
What? That might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.Willie wrote:Not unless you get a new playing surface. Yeah which is why they wouldn't want to play on 2 in the same season. NDSU has been looking at new turf in that place for a few years now, it'll happen before 2014. As for UND and Montana playing in the Alerus...not gonna happen.DJH wrote:What? That might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.Willie wrote: Not unless you get a new playing surface. Doesn't Idaho St still have the old astro turf?
I would love to see Cal Poly and NDSU play again, but I believe Cal Poly has all their away games scheduled for 2011 and are only looking for one or two home games. How about NDSU coming to SLO? I am sure we would be willing to go to Fargo in the future for a return game.mebison wrote:Stealing this from BV, these teams are open that week (some good options in here):

If the reports about UND going to the Big Sky and Montana staying in the Big Sky are true then I think it will happen.Willie wrote: As for UND and Montana playing in the Alerus...not gonna happen.
60 grand aint going to go very far towards new turf.JBB wrote:I hope your right Willie. The $60 grand can go toward that and we can make payments.
The George Strait concert was an example of the dilemma though. That show had 15,000 + Friday night and saturday night was the BISON game. Getting the right turf configuration will be important.
