Weber at Montana State

How well will Weber match up with Montana State next Saturday, the 6th?

The last time they played in Bozeman was 2008, when Weber won 35-12, the week following their 45-28 victory over Montana in Ogden.

The Wildcats and the Bobcats are neck-and-neck in many Big Sky conference-only stats categories, including scoring defense, total offense, rushing offense, and pass offense.

Both teams bring up the rear in Big Sky total defense, allowing 433.8 and 466.4 yards before today's games are figured in.

Weber has been stronger in red zone defense, while MSU has been stronger in red zone offense.

Even after today's fumbles and interceptions are figured into the totals, Weber will still have a -10 net turnover differential for the season, as compared to what has been a positive Montana State TO up to this point.

I am guessing that Weber has a pretty good chance if they win the turnover battle.

Beating MSU twice in a row in Bozeman seems unlikely, ill go look to see if anyone has done it recently.

We beat them three in a row in Bozeman before this year. Feel free to start your own streak.

Like every other game this year for Weber, the game with MSU will probably be decided by TOs.

Hopfully that is your TO and not ours ;)

If Weber can pic off a couple of Mcghee's passes and run the ball like they did against Montana they've got a good chance in this one. Weber can not afford more than one TO in my opinon.

Who thought this game would be scoreless with 5 or 6 minutes left until halftime!? Both teams with a missed FG.

To use my most hated phrase, especially in light of the Griz, it looks as if Weber is starting to wear down MSU's defense.

Big first down grab for Weber on 3rd and 10 too keep the drive alive. 8 minutes or so left in the game, Weber driving down 3.

I checked in the beginning of the 4th qtr, and I think Weber was up...........then I checked back and MSU scores 21 in the 4th?

So does anyone know the specifics on that one?

Probably, but maybe not.

Beat the Griz - Auto-bid
Lose to the Griz - Probably in
Get blown out by the Griz - Iffier.

I think they're a lock at 8-2 (7-2 D-I) no matter what happens against the Griz, especially with how much the overrated CAA has been beating up on each other this year. :thumb:

Keep in mind MSU & UM played weaker non-conference schedules than the other Big Sky teams. It would surprising for either one to miss @ 8-3, but possible. In the off chance the Griz blow out MSU, the Bobcats may be looked at as one of the weaker 7 DI teams due to a poor late performance.

They're in good shape, but not quite safe.

Weber dominated most of the 3rd quarter and scored making it 10 - 3. Our defense was in trouble. MSU mounted together a methodical drive with one big catch up the middle by our 4th string WR (who made best catch of decade in 1st half). Our running game didn't do much. Made a pass over the middle on a short slant for 8 yards and Weber got called for a personal foul ie head hunting on the receiver..pretty blatant.

I think on the next play and with our receiver's head still ringing we went right back to him for a td pass to tie the game up.

Weber drove the ball a little bit on their next possession and was forced to punt. MSU started on their own 9 I think. On their first play they went long down the sideline to the 50 where our receiver "caught" the ball. The refs were there and the receiver got both feet down but was pushed out of bounds and didn't necessarily hang onto the ball all the way to the ground from view on the tv.

A few plays later at about the 35 yard line, we pitched the ball out wide right and Weber had our RB stuffed, then he started darting first left for 5 yards, then right again for 3 yards and then left again and across the whole field for a touchdown. I don't remember any decent blocks by our guys on that one. Made the score 17-7.

Weber drove down the field with 3 minutes left during which time Higgins got hurt and left the game with a sprained MCL. Weber drove down to the 14 yard line kicked the field goal.

We recovered the onside kick. Had about about 2:30 minutes left. On the first play our offensive line decided to block a running play for the first time all game and Davis went right up the middle for a 45 yard touchdown as Weber was bringing everybody on a blitz.

It was a close game except for those two big runs by Davis as both teams struggled to move the ball and score or hang onto it.
