No one has started one, so I figured I would. The question is, does anyone care?

In a word? NO
Too many losses between the both of you. Your season is forever defined by the win at VT. Congrats on that. I certainly enjoyed seeing it. But it is time to find some offense.

I don't care anymore. But I still think we need an ungodly amount of stats to show us why I don't care anymore.

Actually there was a thread for this game started back in July.

SLL, I love the effort. I think the wheels have come off both bandwagons and we just don't have a critical mass of people to sling the hate that this game deserves.

Either way, its always an entertaining game when these 2 teams meet. I am thinking a final score of 3-2 or 9-6 or something along those lines considering we don't know who is playing QB and JMU doesn't play offense.

How about this...

BDK ... which team is more injured? Please backup your selection with stats. Lots of them.

Gotta love what MM said in the Times-Dispatch:

JMU's first time in "that little stadium"........he'll miss the 8,000 to 10,000 (or 5500 or 7000 or whatever) that always showed up to support JMU.

Yes, he is truly a master of deflecting the conversation from his own inability to garner more than 2 playoff victories over 6 seasons to other topics.

Don't worry, Mickey. Robins Stadium meets the CAA requirements to be large enough to accomodate your ego and your mouth.

Preseason this looked like a big game but this is why we play'm. Winner keeps there hopes alive so it should be hard played game.

Take solace both teams though, it could be worse. Over at FOX Sports they were doing cartwheels preseason that the Thanksgiving Game was Cowboys-Saints. Now that's a REAL who cares game now.

You can't have an "official" game thread started in July. ;)

OK, but no stats.

Last week one of the UR posters mentioned that UR had lost 2 starting lineman on both offense and defense from last Aug. JMU has also lost 2 starting OL from Aug who’ve been out the whole season (one was to injury, one to academics). Both teams still have their pre season All CAA OL playing.

JMU has been down 3 starting DL the last 2.5 games (JMU “might” be getting one of those starting DL back for UR, DE Sean O’Neil). UR, however, hasn’t lost their stud DL, pre season AA and All CAA DT Martin Parker, maybe the best DT in all of I-AA. JMU has been without their stud DT, pre season All CAA Ronnell Brown, the last 2.5 games. Not as good as Parker, but probably as valuable to JMU.

It sounds like to me these 2 teams combined will be missing 8-9 of 18 OL & DL starters from Aug.

Outside of lineman JMU is missing
-08' & 09' starting LB Veney who is taking a redshirt.
-Griff Yancey (most valuable non starter) out with turf toe.

So call it 5-6 starters since Aug + about 3 two deep guys

Reportedly get starting tightend #84 Brian Barlow, who's been out since early in the Towson game, back. This is huge, as he is a good pass catching and blocking tightend.

-Of course the biggest name missing for this matchup is Corp. Is the UR 2nd string QB also still out?

We will all get the answer to that question on Saturday. I don't expect Scott to tip our hand either way on that one. We (UR) fans have no clue who's starting Saturday. Laub's wrist was still wrapped up last Sat, Montel was wearing an eye patch at the end of the game and Hicks was out there in his place.

Then put Montel on defense, where he'll probably get a pick or two. MIght as well keep one of your starters healthy for the next game.

Last 2.5 games JMU minus 3 of 4 starters and 3 of 4 DTs on 2 deep DL has been starting DE #13 DJ Bryant (UD’s fans favorite CAA player) and a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers. Both UNH and UMass games:
-JMU offense has outscored opposing offense in the 1st half 14-3 (UNH’s 1st half TD was scoop & score by their defense)
-UNH and UMass has outscored JMU 18-0 in the 2nd half, 15-0 in the 4th qtr.
-has worn down and manhandled the undersized, thin JMU DL in the 4th qtr. Throw in Nova as well. Even though Nova scored their 2 TDs in the 2nd qtr (set up by long run off of fake punt and 50+ yard TD pass) Nova manhandled JMU’s DL in the 4th qtr. Two 4th qtr drives almost all on the ground, one down to the JMU 6 before bouncing a FG off the upright, and another down to the JMU 2 before being stopped on 4th and 1.

With no Corp UR doesn’t have as good of an offense as UNH and UMass, but they have a better running game than UNH and probably as good as UMass especially considering they lack a passing threat to set up the run. Also have a better defense. I could easily see this game following the same script as JMU vs UNH and UMass, except for lower scoring. I could see JMU up 7-0 at the half and the end of the 3rd qtr, with UR not getting much on the ground, then in the 4th qtr JMU’s thin, undersized DL finally wearing down and the UR OL starting to manhandle them, gashing JMU on the ground, and scoring 10 pts in the 4th qtr to win 10-7.

Not that UR has an overpowering line by any means, but they have a good running game. I haven't yet watched the Nova-UR game, but I did watch the UR vs UD and UNH games. If I was UR I would pound, pound, pound, pound. It may not look like it is working for 3 qtrs, but eventually against JMU’s thin, undersized beat up DL those 1,2,3,4 yard runs might start becoming 5,6,7,8 yarders, and might even bust one. Stay tied or within a TD going into the 4th, and win it in the 4th qtr. All of JMU's losses have come in the 4th qtr. Even Nova, where they didn't score, they controlled the line of scrimmage.

What, exactly, do you know about Big Boy FCS football? Appearing on a JMU/Richmond thread, even when the teams are .500 each is a still pretty special place.

You need more than a win over a 5-3 Montana team and a 2007 win in Lake Charles, LA to post here. :rule:

PS- I remember you're out there and will eat my crow, if appropriate. I'll demand the same from you.

But to answer your question, I knew that Villanova was going to stomp Richmond. JMU will squeek one out. :thumb:

Heck, make that a 4-3 Montana team as far as the playoffs are concerned, as one was a Div II. Montana is in the same boat as JMU and UR, they have to win out to get in. Likely none of those 3 make the playoffs.

So much fail. :ohno:

PHCE alread accounted for the D-II. Overall Montana is 6-3, 5-3 in FCS play. They have two games left to play, so yes they still have to win out in order to make it in. One thing is for sure, one of either JMU or UR will not make the playoffs.
