Why does Wofford suck so bad in Boone recently?

Wofford beat just about everyone else in the SoCon just as badly or worse than ASU...today the Terriers just absolutely routed a good Chattanooga team that ASU really struggled to beat. Last year a 3-8 Wofford team played ASU fairly well in Spartanburg. Is there something in the air that makes us lose all ability to play ball in Boone? We have embarrassed ourselves two times in a row in Boone...but otherwise had great seasons those years. What is going on? Why do our good teams reserve by far our worst football for Boone...I mthink it's a mental thing...the Rock is in our heads! I pray we avoid that place in the playoffs.

Bobby Bozzo's opinion on the matter:
In 2007 when we lost to em they (fans) were chanting “overrated” for the whole fourth quarter. And that was probably the biggest mistake for the history of App and Wofford that they could have made cause there’s always gonna be somebody on the team who remembers that, and if there’s someone who wasn’t on the team that didn’t remember that, we tell them how terrible it was, for all those guys in their button ups and their ties running on the field and chanting “overrated” to us.
So we have a personal vendetta against Wofford. We just love when they hype it up cause we know what’s going to happen cause we always work hard during the week for them.

no, our fans were antagonized by app fans that came on campus the night before and put flyers all over the cars and buildings on campus. there were two that i remember seeing first hand:
1).
app state 34
michigan 32
yeah, i'd be scared too!
2).paraphrased to best of my memory
"we are going to show you how to give an ass kickin' in your own arboretum on national television."
that's what got the students fired up. i think some of those flyers found their way to the lockeroom and...well, you know.

It has really only been the last two trips that we played really badly.
In 2006 we gave App one of their closest games of the year, a 14-7 App win.
2004 wasn't a good game, but wasn't a blow-out.
And the 2002 team spoiled App's homecoming.
It's a mental problem, likely with the coaching staff. Before the 2002 game, Mike Ayers was quoted as stating as saying he dreaded the ride up the mountain. I think some of the coaching anxiety transfers to the players. We play App well at home. Even last years down (2-6 SoCon) team led ASU well into the third quarter before giving out of steam.
We've played in larger, louder and more rowdy venues and done well; e.g., Missoula. In fact it has been a number of years since we lost in Statesboro.
I hope we have a chance to redeem ourselves in 3 weeks or so.

It's tough to travel to any venue that packs in fans at 40% over capasity and are loud an vocal. It makes momentum a tangable issue. (It's the same when we travel to Paulson) It also helps that the guys in the black uniforms are usually pretty darn good. It also helps that The Rock is field turf as it's a faster surface than natural grass.
