Robert Morris Universtiy @ NDSU BISON*

Post by JBB »

The Robert Morris Colonials are rolling into Fargo for what could be the first step on the way to a national championship for one of these teams. Its only fitting that this Prestigious Venue should be the starting point for the quest.

The Colonials had Saturday off, but started and finished the season with losses winning all games in between. They are a good collection of well coached football players.

The Colonials will be leaving the confines of Moon township, PA for Cass County and Fargo North Dakota where the site of the Prestigious Fargo dome will fill their field of vision.

Quick take:

8-2 on the season
winners of the Northeast Conference with the tie-breaker over Central Con. State.
http://www.northeastconference.org/sport.asp?path=fball" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is the inagerual playoff trip for the NEC
Myles Russ is their top running back
RMU had 335 rushing against Central Con. State.
There were 2,789 in attendance at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township for that game.

There is a lot of ground to cover to understand this team adequately.
I will spend the day today in early preparation. There is nothing on tickets yet.
It is unknown if the game will be televised.
Certainly about 10,000 tickets are already sold to season ticket holders.
Its not known yet if this will sell-out. Early indications are overwhelming demand for these seats.
Weather is an unknown factor. It will affect the tailgate. Football is played inside, in a new, modern football facility, The Fabulous Fargo Dome!!
This is going to be a BISON Win!!!
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

This the first trip to the FCS playoffs for the BISON.

Montana State U has the all-time series advantage over the BISON.

NDSU has never played RMU and has never lost to an NEC team.

I'm picking RMU by 7 points. I believe Russ and Sinclair will be too much for the Bison to handle, and won't be able to outscore the solid Colonials' offense

Interesting match-up. NDSU better find some offense quick if they want to make the trip to Bozeman.

I was kind of surprised to see NDSU make it in to the playoffs, and even more surprised to see them hosting a game.

So you're picking a final score of 7-0?

10-3. I think the "Kansas" NDSU offense shows up. ;)

it's interesting - this years bison team reminds me of the team a few years ago that went in to Bozeman and lost a close one to the Lulay-led Bobcats... the offense looks like a spluttering mess one game, and solid the next.

On the positive side NDSU held a team that was averaging over 30 points a game to 3 points, but then the offense with the walkiing wounded at QB (3 different in the MSU game), might be better running the wildcat with DJ McNorton.

I'll tell you this if the "Kansas Offense" shows up The Herd will light up the scoreboard. Expect something crazy like 24. With the punishing running game the Col. are brining expect them to rack up some yards and points too. This could be a "whale of the game".

It looks like the win over Big 12 Charter Membrer Kansas Jayhawks sealed the deal for NDSU:
Clearly though the committee valued that Kansas win tremendously to give NDSU the last spot.
The win over Kansas was epic. It turns out to be the most important win of the season. It has given the BISON a shot at the National Championship.

the game will be live on http://www.ncaa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thats all I know so far.

I would have been more surprised if they made it and WIU didn't.

Bison win if they score first.

Really excited for the game. Thought that we would stay closer to home, but what an experience the boys will have. As far as I know, it will be the flight for the team ever. They even bus to RI to play Bryant. ORMC might have flown when he played, but I do not recall any.

Anyways, hope the boys show up and give them hell.

I don't know anything about these teams but a NDSU - MSU match up in the 2nd round would generate a lot of entertaining banter on these boards.

Haha that's great and I couldn't agree more but I'm going to say 4-2. The Bison defense scores two safeties and our anemic offense wins us the game by not fumbling or throwing any intercpetions. An epic battle in the fargodome under a less than stellar coaching staff drag the Bison to week two in the playoffs only to travel to MSU to see our offense rack up negative yardage putting our scoring defense on the spot. Can our defense score enough points in the second week? Stay tuned to the epic year of no offense by NDSU. Maybe Vigen our offensive coordinator could be kidnapped for the duration of the playoffs and our coach could undergo emergency shock therapy prior to the first game of the playoffs. We may score more points if that happened. Oh wait we still need a QB to show up and play forget it.

NDSU submitted a bid of $100,000 to the NCAA, which is $70,000 more than the required minimum. Taylor said the school needs to sell about 9,000 tickets to reach the NCAA bid. Host teams are not selected until the entire playoff field is set, O’Day said.

No doubt the offensive has been up and down. Fact remains they were good enough to get us here. Our defense was very good during the regular season. They only allowed 16 TDs all season.

NDSU has had one heck of a football season. They are 20 out of a field of 20 with their eyes set on the National Championship. This game is the first step. It will be a hard hitting affair. RMU has handled their league much like NDSU has. By comparing those games two equally matched teams emerge.

The Bison are injured and I would say in a bit of disarray. For some reason the offensive schemes have not been consistent. The QB situation remains a huge question. To me this is starting to look a little bit like Delta State except for the big difference: HOME FIELD.

NDSU was robbed of home field in that D2 final round game and was starting a freshman apprentice QB because 2 starters had gone down in Omaha the week before. Now the BISON have home field. We have 2 injured QBs and an untested journyman ready to take the helm.

The defense is also hurt. Our Linebacking position has about run out of depth. Some of our guys may not see action Saturday. There are very few players on the BISON bench not getting game time.

The season was a gauntlet. It started with the Big Victory at Kansas and ended with the confusing game at MSU. It had its ups and downs, its critics and its promoters, but now its time for NDSU BISON Fans to think victory.
