Stony Brook shit the bed pretty bad, too. LU screwed up by losing to Coastal, no denying that...

but Stony Brook only needed to hold Liberty under 42 points, and they would have got the auto-bid. They couldn't do that, so they choked away the playoffs.

The Big South was just full of choke jobs this season.

Man you can say that again. I have never been so absolutely wrong in my assessment of a team than I was with Chuck South this season. Loads and loads of talent, but they did nothing.

I was on the Bucs wagon before the season. So chalk me up as one surprised by the way they fell on their face, as well.

Tuscano's injury hurt, as well as Stephenson never being 100%, but still...

Uh, Andy, there's actually a THREE-WAY TIE for the Big South Co-Championship. Coastal merely got the auto-bid due to some crazy tie-breaker formula. That should NOT have kept Liberty out, but somehow did.

Coastal is NOT sole champion. They are CO-Champion.

I wasn't expecting a 8-9 win season for G-W, but a 6-5 record should have been reached, especially with the momentum of beating Akron, even though they sucked this season.:pissed:

Haha, now that I agree with! Charleston Southern had a 6 point lead on Wofford with less than 3:00 to play in 4th, who nearly won the SoCon and is in playoffs, and blew it on a stupid mental mistake. Then, well, they basically laid a giant football turd the rest of the season. Expected more from CSU after they finished 2nd last season and had everyone back.

Speaking of Liberty, did they keep throwing the ball well into the end of the game vs SBU? I was intrigued by how that tie-breaker finished up, with LU needing to score as many as possible, and CCU needing to hold CSU to as few as possible. Kinda odd way for the tie-breaker to be decided.

Yep. They sure did fall hard. Lost their starting QB midway through the LU game, that hurt us bad.

Hope the future is bright. The freshman QB they started in the end showed a lot of promise, and word is he'll be as big an impact as Collin Drafts was at CSU. And they got a transfer, Ryan Mounce I think the name is, but he was SC's Mr. Football in 2007, offered by many SEC/ACC schools, but chose baseball instead at Clemson. Wanted to go back to football, and transfered to CSU. Coaches said maybe biggest recruiting land in school history with him coming, so we'll see.

But the CSU D has got to get better vs the run.

I'm sure the NCAA is glad they expanded the playoffs so a 6-5 Big South team and a second MEAC team could get in. :|

Liberty led 37-28 at the end of the third quarter. In the 4th, they played to maintain the lead and control the clock. They ran 15 times and completed 3 of 7 passes in the 4th quarter resulting in 2 field goals. They also let the clock run out in the last two minutes when the offense was in SB's red zone. The only TD scored in the 4th quarter was an interception return by Liberty's Doncel Bolt.

The tie-breaker only related to points allowed against conference opponents. After Coastal Carolina gave up only 3 points to Charleston Southern and Liberty gave up a TD to Stony Brook in the first quarter, Liberty's chances at the AQ were eliminated. If points scored would have made a difference, they would not have throttled down the offense in the 4th quarter.

Kid's name is Richard Mounce and while Dixon has good legs he will be a WR next year and Mounce will be at QB. No way you keep Mounce on the bench in favor of Dixon when you can have them both on the field at the same time.

If the QB job goes to Mounce next year, I hope he really takes the opportunity to heart and spends as much time learning the offense between now and August as possible. I know he was new, but the few times he saw action this season, I wasn't too impressed. I was more impressed with Dixon. However, I know what you mean. It is in the Buccaneers' best interest to have both Mounce and Dixon on the field at the same. I know Dixon was recruited as a WR, but with both in there, it makes for some very creative play-calling possibilities.

I can't say I'm happy for Coastal. They only thing that would make me happy when it comes to Coastal is if they went 0-11 every year. Same thing for Liberty. I can't stand either one. I know I should cheer for them in the playoffs because of conference loyalty, but I can't.

As for Charleston Southern...It was a very disappointing year to say the least. I know Coastal had to score as many points as possible to secure their championship position, but I hope the score of the CSU/Coastal game and the final record of 3-8 are posted in the locker room and on each players' locker every day until next season is over. They need to be so visible that every player gets sick of seeing it. If that isn't motivation enough for next year, nothing is. I hope each player takes it personal and uses it as motivation from today until next football kicks off to get bigger, faster, stronger, and mentally and physically tougher.

We'll see. I'm ready for next year. Go BUCS!!!

Just to clarify (no smack)...we didn't need an abundance of points to win the tiebreaker. It came down to points allowed in league games between Coastal, Liberty, & Stony Brook. Our objective was not to score a lot of points, but rather hold you guys to a minimum of points scored. We could have defeated CSU 6-3 & still received the auto-bid.

VMI should have done something similar by moving Cam Jones (even though he was the QB for the Presby. and CSU wins) to WR, and have only Morgan and Kordenbrock at QB. Jones' two lollipop tosses into the Gard-Webb endzone for INT's cost VMI a chance to jump out to a 14-0 lead.
