PSU vs Montana

So as the Grizzlies roll into town to play the Vikings on Saturday a few questions seem to always come up between these two teams.
How close will the game be this year and will it be Glanville's first win over Montana. I don't think PSU will have enough to beat the Griz. It is supposed to be rainy, with a chance of more rain. We all know what happened the last time the Griz played in the rain, WSU took the ball from the Griz a few times and punished the team. The Griz seemed to learn from the loss at WSU and have been playing lights out football since then. Scoring at will and shutting other teams down with their D.
PSU will have to wait until next year to try again and beat the Griz.
Griz 38
PSU 13

If it does rain, I think that the Griz O-Line has been playing better and will take it upon themselves to grind out drives just like they did against UNC and NAU. If that happens PSU won't have the ball enough to stop the Griz. Weber jumped out to a 31-0 lead on these guys and I think the Griz can do the same thing.

Forcast is for rain all day today. Didn't PSU put in Sprinturf, what Wa-Griz has, or something similar last year or the year before so the 320 days of rain a year that Portland gets won't harm the field?

Well the Griz pulled it out today. 29-12. First off, the officiating was about as bad as ever! And most of it was infavor of PSU. Blown calls, tickeytack flags, no intentional grounding, taking away an INT, taking away a great special teams play to put PSU inside their own 5. BH should send off a letter with a game tape to whoever is in charge of these guys.
Well the Griz piled up the rushing yards, most of wich were in the second half. The D played a very good game. Chase was a stud again this week. 3 more TDs with over 150 yards rushing again.

Guess it depends "which side of the stands you sat on...". From where I was sitting on the 45, I saw the most dirty playing I've ever seen in a college game...from Montana players.
That game will probably change the way I view the Griz...very, very disappointed. They are talented players and could have won without the cheap shots.

Can you honestly say that? What game were you watching? And PSU's team were a bunch of angels the entire game. You need some new glasses. SO blatent face masks and blocks in the back are just PSU's way of evening up the game? Get real.
I am not saying the Griz were choir boys, but it goes both ways.

There was a lot of stuff happening on the field that the cameras didn't catch until after it happened. I agree the officiating was lousy, but the essence of my observation is that the better of the two teams won Sat., and Montana could have won without cheap shots.

Boy. It must have ALL happened where the cameras didn't catch it. I watched the game on BigSkyTV and didn't see ONE cheap shot by any Montana players.

Well i doubt that either Montana or PSU were innocent in either case. But it is football, bad things happen. I have to say i am very impressed with Chase Reynolds. Watched the game on Big Sky TV and i have to say...wish we had a back like that!

He's REALLY come into his own in the past few games, TBird. He's a breath of fresh air after having to watch TBF cringe every time he's about to get hit....certainly makes a NICE added dimension to the Berquist/Mariani/Ferriter/Schulte combos....

Agreed. Reynolds is a genuinely nice guy to. I see him around campus and he is very well spoken.
I know a good bit of people that are upset with Berquist, however. Mainly idiotic students, but some nonetheless. As far as I can tell, he is precise and doing great.

Ya, the griz are clicking on all cylinders. I'm very suprised that they are playing so well after losing so many seniors. Obviously Hauck is a great coach. I always thought he seemed kind of aloof but he's done a much better job with the media this year also. Anyone who is being honest with themselves knows that PSU was much more aggressive with the cheap shots. That is the way football goes though, lots of emotion coming into a game like that. The griz have never been a dirty team though. They don't want to play like that and plus Hauck would have their ass if they did. It's been a fun season.

one thing i have noticed though..it seems that every team that is running the run and shoot offense...well they arent doing so hot with it. Is it because Linebackers in this day in age just are to quick and athletic and stop it cold? Idk if its the right call or not but...maybe PSU should get a better offensive scheme?

PSU has 2 problems…
- 1. Most of the players on the team were recruited for Tim Walsh's run-first west coast scheme. The run & shoot necessitates a vastly different personnel emphasis.
2. PSU lost a lot of seniors off last year's team. They're very raw this year.
As I've often said, it's not really about what scheme you run as it is about having the right players for the scheme you're running. That's why Glanville & Mouse Davis need some time to get their guys in there & get them experienced.

Tman, with all due respect to you as a friend...your personal involvement in this game has a bit of sway on your perception. I could say the same thing about myself but the dirty play in this game has become the norm when PSU and Montana play much like it is normal in a lot of MSU/MT games. This started a long time ago with PSU...about 1999 if I remember correctly. There are always lots of late hits, action after the whistle, and so forth. When we play PSU the first thing i say about it every year is that it will be a physical game as the teams have had bad blood between them for some time. I don't think either one of these teams is a dirty, but when they play each other there is a lot of extra curricular and dirty play in these games. If it changes your opinion then so be it.
