ODU's 2011 Schedule, First Year in CAA.
Any thoughts for the newcomers? Really only two "true OOC games" for the Monarchs if you include Georgia State...
Sept. 3rd, 6 pm - Campbell (3-8) @ ODU
Sept. 10th, 1 pm - ODU @ Georgia State (6-5)
Sept. 17th, 6 pm - Hampton (6-5) @ ODU
Sept. 24th, 12 pm - ODU @ Delaware (10-1)
Oct. 1st, 3:30 pm - Massachusetts (7-4) @ ODU *Family Weekend*
Oct. 8th, 12 pm - ODU @ Rhode Island (4-7)
Oct. 15th, 12 pm - Towson (1-10) @ ODU *Homecoming*
Oct. 22nd, 12 pm - ODU @ Villanova (6-5)
Oct. 29th, 3:30 pm - James Madison (6-5) @ ODU
Nov. 5th, 12 pm - Richmond (6-5) @ ODU
Nov. 12th, 3:30 pm - ODU @ William & Mary (8-3)
Nov. 19th, bye week
Those last 4 will be brutal. Playing the National Champs from 2004, 2009, and 2010 and the National Semifinalists from 2010. The CAA couldn't give us a bye week in the middle of the season? Not complaining, just saying....

I think ANY Monarch fan would take that in our first year in the CAA...even the most ignorant ODU fan.State Line Liquors wrote:6-5 (3-5)futureodualum11 wrote:Any thoughts for the newcomers? Really only two "true OOC games" for the Monarchs if you include Georgia State...

I assume you have us winning all three of our OOC games plus Towson and URI? Who do you have us against in a possible upset? James Madison? or how about Delaware?

I think a majority of ODU fans are expecting 5-6 (2-6 CAA). Hopefully we can get to that record and pull off an upset.

All three OOC. I think you can probably beat Torson and YouAreEye. Hard to guess on the 6th win. CAA ball is pretty unpredictable from week to week, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a little bit of an upset against one of the better teams in conference. Probably one of your home games against UMass or JMU.futureodualum11 wrote:I think ANY Monarch fan would take that in our first year in the CAA...even the most ignorant ODU fan.State Line Liquors wrote:

Same here. But I do like how the Monarchs have surprised me these last two seasons...hoping for more.CAA Flagship wrote:I would take that right now.93henfan wrote:I see 5-6 with 2 CAA wins.

URI will be no slouch this year. They were solid last year, and bring a lot back. ODU surprised me last year in Norfolk, and the game atmosphere there was electric for the WM/ODU game. In 2011 WM will not take ODU lightly.

Yeah, I see 5-6, with two CAA wins (I say against UMass and Towson). Certainly a decent start to life in the CAA, and I wouldn't be shocked if ODU is a title contender by 2013.

They could win a total of 5 or 6 games against that schedule - other than the Towson game, no breathers in CAA play on that schedule.

With an odd number of teams in the CAA in 2011, someone had to be left out of playing a conference game the last week. ODU is at the bottom of the pecking order (for now).futureodualum11 wrote:The CAA couldn't give us a bye week in the middle of the season? Not complaining, just saying....

Hey Monarch fans, does ODU have a new helmet for 2011? I saw this on a website...
Re: ODU's 2011 Schedule, First Year in CAA.
No, but we do like wearing black jerseys (vs. W&M, Cal Poly, VMI):

??? They are in the CAA for every other sport that they play (assuming CAA hosts the sport). A few years down the road this could be a playoff contending team and everyone in the CAA knows it.BlackFalkin wrote:ODU is dead. Should have went to the Southern Conference.
