Canidates to make GWC a 6 school leauge

I recently talked to the comminsioner of the Great West Conference by phone (you can call them on the GWC website) and he said that they are hoping to get another school with a football program to join by the year 2010
or have one of the current schools obtain one and hopefully allow an autobid for the FCS playoffs in the future. Now he wouldn't go into detail on what teams they were thinking about but i would just like to hear who everyone would think would be the most logical choice or who they would like to see in the conference. These are my picks;
-University of Nebraska Omaha Mavericks: A division 2 school with FCS capabilities. They are quite a powerful team in the D2 ranks and have the stadium/ student size to move up to Divsion 1 in the near future. All they need are a few more sports added and scholarships and they are there. Their location is not to bad either and would fit in the GWC classification being south of the Dakotas
-University of San Diego Toreros: A very good choice in terms of location and athletics, they only thing standing in there way is that they dont offer athletic scholarships (as i believe is the case with all pioneer conference schools) they start doing that i seem them as a great choice.
-New Mexico State Aggies, Utah State Aggies, Idaho Vandals: Now if the FBS decides to kick out a few schools do too poor attendance ratings then im sure that the Aggies would find a home in the Great West along with teams like Idaho and Utah State. But this is probably just wishful thinking as it is apprent that the FBs is probably not going to do anything about it do to in state politics. But who knows it could happen
-West Texas A&M Buffaloes: A Division 2 school that definetly has a FCS (1-aa) potential. They have had over the years a standard succses that is expected when it comes to texas football. Their stadium seats over 20,000 the largest d2 stadium i believe and is pretty full almost every game (i think it was something like at least 10,00 plus per game.) The one thing standing in there way is, well fnances and cost of movin up to FCS play and possibly the distance being to far south.
These are the canidates that i have come up with that i can see for the possibility of joining the GWC or another team someone like Sac State leaves the Big Sky to join (dont see that happening).

These really are the only two canidates i can see for the possibility of joining the GWC football leauge unless someone like Sac State leaves the Big Sky.
Well, I was going to try to help out the SoCon by suggesting the Citadel or Western Carolina. However, I see you qualified your question by asking for another school wih a football program.......

SUUTbird,
How about disband the GWC and have CP/ Davis / SUU join the Big Sky

The only problem I see with that is that each year your team wouldn't be able to play each and every conference member. A couple of teams would be left out each year. I like being able to play every member of the BSC each year. That way there is no banter as to who is better.

or have one of the current schools obtain one ...
How about Utah Valley State? They are in the new Great West Conference, and have explored adding football.

They would get an autobid faster if they could find an FCS to add. They are already waiting for UND and USD to qualify. Adding a D2 would just lengthen the process.

I know there HAS TO BE a solid West side Conference in FCS other than Big Sky, but what if SUU jumped to Big Sky. Then there would be a kick ass yearly in-state rivalry. Good for attendance good for exposer. cause as good as Weber is right now that stadium is still pretty empty. The game with highest attendance thus far was Dixie State! But then what to do with GWC? Im new to FCS football so what kinda schools are between Texas and California and the Northwest that are worth a damn?

why not? Padding the sked like that sure seems to work for the CAA....

Yeah, but they're against GSU, WCU and The Shitadel. Not exactly victories to write home about.

I don't see West Texas A&M going out that far. They will wait for a spot in the SLC to open up.

Well im going to kinda try and get this thread back on track
. Utah Valley State is considering creating a football team but i dont think they are even going to consider adding one for a few years because they dont have the money to build a stadium, or a location. Also just no money. I understand it would take longer if another d2 school moved up so thats why i think they need to really try and get the University of San Diego...now if they would just offer athletic scholarships!!

I can't believe we're STILL talking about SUU joining the Sky. All that would do is give UNC and ISU freebie blowout conference wins every year. A school that can't win a conference title from a team that finishes 4-6 has no business joining the Big Sky.
Cow Poly and UC Davis, yes. SUU, [bleep] no.

When was the last time Sac State finished with a better record? Sac State hurts the Sky! I bet SUU could beat Sac 6 years out of ten... If SUU isn't good enough for the Sky neither is Sac.

And I can't believe we ever let Suck State IN. I'd take SUU in a heartbeat over Suck State. And this year, SUU rolls UNC, ISU AND Suck State.
