I'd rather have USD and UND and Cal Poly and UC-Davis.

I wouldn't mind having SUU in the Big Sky, it would be a good rivalry with Weber State, not quite as big as the Brawl, but a good one. SUU's facilities arent all that great, their football stadium only holds like 7,500 fans. But if Eastern Washington's Football Stadium only holds 8000, and they can get in the Big Sky why cant SUU?
Not to mention Fullerton is all about Montana,
Last weekend A Montana Kick returner returns a kick for a touchdown against winless Idaho State, and got a player of the Week award. The Weekend before that, Weber State beat Idaho State at Idaho State 59 to 27, Weber amassed 666 total yards against the Bengals. No other team had that many yards vs the Bengals, not even Boise State and Cal Poly, and they were both at home. Anyway Higgins threw for almost 400 yards,( over 200 by halftime). Trevyn Smith had over 200 all purpose yards and became Weber's all time leading rusher, And Josh Morris had 3 Interceptions for Weber. Not one of those players got a player of the week, even though they had the best performance in the Sky that week. And Fullerton's excuse? Because they played Idaho State. Thats pathetic.
Down With Fullerton.

In my book, AZ, you got that half right. Cow Poly and Davis are a given. Davis could pair with Sac and CP with NAU.
In terms of beefing up RPI (or whatever it is they use to rank FCS), MAYBE the UXDs would work, but we still have the travel issues. Given proven ability, though, we'd be better off apologizing to the XDSUs, I would think. Regardless, EITHER of these pairs would be better than SUU.
I STILL can't give any credence to a school that can't even win a conference title from a school that finished 4-6.

SUU is good location, the dakotas will not get in the 'sky for the same reason the ncaa regionalizes playoff games.

Big Sky: Let SUU in!
I'm not sure what that would accomplish, other than getting slack-jawed gawkers to wonder if this is some sort of
Daily Show or
Punk'd moment (who the hell organizes a protest at a collegiate athletic conference?).
The Big Sky should just add Utah Valley State as a basketball only member to ease scheduling & leave it at that. There's no need to expand football. We're all already playing 8 conference games a year, anyway.

would the big sky really consider adding a bball only school?
that would be kinda cool.
i think unless its suu i dont want more schools. its a good point about not being able to play each school every yr in ur own conf.
Funnything is its not Doug's decision, its the schools of the 'sky that deside.

The Big Sky did have Gonzaga as a non-football school until 1979. It hasn't happened since, but I don't see any reason why it couldn't since UVSU is currently an independent (slated for the pseudo-independent Great West Conference in basketball next year).

Man i dont really understand where Sac State fans get the idea how we shouldnt be in based on never winning a conference championship were they havent either
. SUU has only belonged to a conference for 5 years back when the Great West was formed and they are a football school only in it. I think they should and could move up to the Big Sky and eventually compete. This year the program has done a complete turnaround and we will only be getting better. We did almost beat NAU while they were highly ranked and i bet we could beat UNC, ISU and Sac State. Wether you like it or not SUU is getting better and our BBall team isnt bad either!

Gonzaga was a Big Sky charter member though so I think they did have football. I don't think they cancelled football til after they left the 'sky. does anyone know?

I heard that Fullerton wants to expand the Sky to 12 teams. Is this true? I heard that he wanted to have a coastal division and a mountain division. That might be kinda cool, but how do you decide upon a conference champion in football without a championship game (the week after the season ends the playoffs begin)? Anyway, if that is the case...I think Cal Poly, Davis, and SUU get in. Thats makes sense to me. No Dakotas... SUU makes as much or more sense than Davis. With regard to travel, SUU is in the middle of the Big Sky. NAU, WSU, UNC could all be travel partners with SUU. Cal Poly is in the middle of nowhere (San Luis Obeispo is a awesome place though), but they would be a great addition to the Sky.
There is one problem with Cal Poly and Davis...how does the Sky convince them to leave the Big West??
SAC fans don't want SUU in the Sky because the T-birds would automatically be competitive. SUU would beat SAC right away, thus cementing Sac's spot at the bottom of the conference. SAC wants D-II schools to join so they can at least win a couple of games in the conference for a few years till those schools get good. How long has it taken Sac to be competitive? Oh wait...they still can't compete. Most Big Sky schools see Sac as a glorified scrimmage. The only sport they were good at, volleyball, they aren't anymore, and who cares about Volleyball anyway??

SUU will get in the BSC about the same time UM makes the move to the WAC

Don't know what the cr@p you're talking about. Sac won the America West Conference title, and SUU didn't.

SUU,
the thing about Sac is they are competitive in every sport in the big sky not including football and basketball. Im not saying they have never been good at football or bball but they have been good all aloong in the others.
volleyball anyone? sac was a powerhouse til the coach retired last yr.

Facilities and location, location, location. It's an easy haul for Idaho State, Weber, and not too bad for NAU...everyone else is into McCarran and a three+ hour bus ride. SLC takes a little longer. Last time I looked Cedar City didn't even have Q400's (seats 68-78) flying in, just EMB 120's (30) so your looking at a major airport plus long bus trip. At least SLO (Santa Barbara) supports CRJ 700's (70) which fits an entire travel squad w/coaches+trainers (and hubs through Sacto). It's one thing to move a sub 30 person travel squad w/coaches and gear...and quite another to move a football tsquad. And while attendance isn't as critical as FBS, 7,500 is marginal seating.
I'm not questioning SUU's ability to compete in the Big Sky, but the logistics are going to be a potential issue, IMHO.
