Villanova football idea is dead

From Temple board with inside knowledge..

"Villanova football idea is dead. The BE is telling us to hang tight. They may have something for us shortly, which could include all-sports membership. Watch for DePaul to be jettisoned ala Temple football a week or so beforehand".

BTW, if this is true, mainejeff will be devastated that the CAA isn't falling apart.

I have zero inside knowledge of what's going on with the Big East (other than their hoops teams have kicked ass so far), but one of the last places I'd look for insight on VU's FB team would be from Temple. The two schools don't like each other & TU fans I know would be extremely jealous if VU played FB in the BEC after they kicked TU to the curb.

I recently read that Nova to the BE is pretty much a done deal. I think this Temple guy is full of it.

Agree with BHBK - Temple football guys are the last source I'd use for nova football news.

As for the CAA "falling apart", obviously it isn't, but even if nova turns down the Big East, there's the question of whether nova will even have football at any level. I wouldn't be shocked if nova just dropped football entirely if they turned down the Big East. The sports-minded alums don't go to watch football now and will be even more bitter should they turn down a BCS spot, no matter how tenuous their position in a BCS conference would be (i.e. no fanbase, renting space in a small soccer stadium miles from campus in the hood, and little evidence of alumni $$$ giving).

That guy feed you this shit is clueless. First they can't just kick DePaul out. Temple was kicked out because they were a fb affiliate not a voting member. If Nova is out. Which I doubt then UCF would be in. Look at that idiot's logic. You add another member to get to 18 then kick DePaul out to go back to a more awkward 17. dumb dumb dumb dumb.

Seriously. Anyone that states "XXX school" is going to be kicked out of the league is a moron.....plain and simple. That's why I laugh at half the idiots that post over on the CAAZone........

The assumption from most was Nova is gone. I asked the question why would they go? The rebuttal from the peanut gallery was overwhelming. Most of the Einsteins checked in: Dumb if you dont agree.

Your quote is first. Money rube, money. Well show me the money, unless of course you meant the money it would cost.

The man himself never even questioned it. Well there is question now.

The "good bison fan" told us all it made a ton of sense.

None particularly promoting discussion. All were smug. All are now appearing to be wrong. There was little motivation if things play out the way they are appearing to.

Now, would all you whiz kids clarify your points?

exactly. Here are the 2 full member schools that got kicked out/resigned from a conference. UTPA from the Sun Belt in 1998 for major violations and Chicago St. from the Mid Cont. in 2006 for major rules violations. It would take a hell of a lot more for a BCS conf. to kick out anyone than just major violations. USC isn't getting kicked out of the P12 for all the stuff they did in fb and bball.

someone asked where they'll play. Temple has the Linc until 2017. Nova would play at the new MLS soccer stadium. Penn plays a Franklin field don't they?

All I said was that money would be the primary motivation for moving up, if they were to do it. Apparently they've decided it wouldn't make sense financially, and therefore aren't going to do it.

Next. :coffee:

I had no idea we were arguing something there to be honest. What I said is in reference to an FCS, if making a move to a BCS conference, I could not argue against their dreams. You see JBB I always ask dullards that think a move to the MAC or SB is going to be a financial windfall how they can think that? You probably remember that cuz I asked you that one last year on your NDSU to the MAC thread.

That doesn't have a damn thing to do with them also rejecting a move to a BCS conference for financial reasons. If they don't think they can make that work then it makes you wonder how other fan bases think a move to a much weaker revenue stream is gonna be big bucks for them doesn't it?

I guess you read something into what I was saying there that I was not saying. You are very welcome for the help on that one.

Do we even know that they aren't yet? I can see you crowing about something you didn't understand if it is set in stone and then only having to eat crow on one front but now...no matter how this goes you look like you'll be feasting on retard sandwiches again. Jesus Christ man, come take a sip from the fountain of knowledge to wash that down once in a while cuz some of us are tired of performing the Heimlich Maneuver on ya to clear all the retard out of your throat.

I dont suffer fools kindly, but in your case I will make an exception.

NDSU has the potential for the FBS. You dont understand that because you have a large stadium in a small market. We have a small stadium in a large market. Lots of untapped potential. UM has very little untapped potential. Its a question of the chicken or the egg. NDSU needs a larger stadium to have the financial potential to fully fund the FBS move. Do they build it and move or move and build it?

The idea that Novas acceptance was a foregone conclusion in the face of the common knowledge that FBS was not an automatic ticket to fame and fortune was a little foreign to me. Certainly the encouraging words of outlying fans like yourself cause some contemplation on the issue. I have come to the conclusion its market driven and the facilities, or their potential, have to be there.

As far as NDSU goes I have come to the conclusion a move can not be made on the come. There has to be a certainty stadium money will be there or a stadium has to be in place. Without it there is just too much risk of financial failure.

Well it looks like you are finally taking at least a small sip once in a while...except for the first part there.

It's true that Temple has a lease agreement to play at the Linc until 2017, however, don't read into that thinking they'll be elsewhere the following season, it's a layup they'll continue their relationship with the Birds.

Good point but the whole Bitterroot Valley is around 150,000 I think and it's considered one economic entity for Griz purposes.
