Has a non seed ever made it to the national championship game?

Has a non seed ever won it all?

I'm going to guess that JMU wasn't a seed in 2004, since they played on the road every week.

Yes, a non-seed has won it all...

UMass in 1998 was ranked 11th in the country going into the playoffs...every game was a road game...

Defeated the #1 seed Georgia Southern in the finals...

Quite right. Georgia Southern in 1985 (bastards!) was not seeded. Don't believe Western Kentucky was seeded in '02, either.

Northern Iowa in 2005 and Delaware in 2007 made it to the Championship game without being seeded.

WKU was at-large in '02. I'm sure they were not seeded. They were 8-3 when the playffs started.
