Bullshit, Spring doesn't come in ND until mid-June.

  Normally true but it is supposed to be around 50 for the next few days. Not too bad for this time of year. The warm weather doesn't help the flood outlook next week though. :?

Its been rumored for a while now but as they say buy the rumor sell the news. Matt Voigtlander, impressive and effective NDSU backup running back is now the full time punter.
In three years as a backup running back, he had 619 yards on 74 carries – an average of 8.4 yards per carry. He had a team-best 7.0 yards per attempt last year with his 29 carries for 202 yards.
http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id ... up/Sports/
It's an interesting move. NDSU has a lot of talent at running back and it adds a dimension to the punting game. Having a running back that is good enough to start on many MVFC teams punting now makes the fake punt a real probable event in any BISON punting situation.

They talk about it in this video from the NDSU Football Conglomerate practice facilities as well as some defensive talk. Montana State even gets mention because of the weather:

If there's any NDSU haters livig in Fargo, I will send you a cowbell and pay you to ring it loud and proud at the Bison's spring scrimmage. :thumb:

If they get real good at it, might they run the fake punt on every down?
;)

YSU's spring game is in two weeks. We are halfway done with a spring ball that has featured temps near 70 and a practice in 2 inches of snow!

If there is a school that has a fan base that understands the devastation of a fake kick its Montana. I posted the highlights earlier of a fake Field Goal that beat the Griz. We had to ice their kicker too, so it wasnt all in the fake, but it was all about coaching. A seemingly superior team that gets out coached will often lose. Its just another tool in the tool bag. Something to think about.

Where was that tool bag last December 10th?

I'm not sure what you have been reading, if anything, but there is no one in Fargo that looks on the EWU game as definitive. It was not a clean game. It had a final score but it didn't result in any respect for EWU in Fargo beyond the fact they are a worthy opponent. Worthy opponent yes, coaching superiority no, officiating favoring one team yes. Athleticism, coaching and game plan were clearly in favor of NDSU.

It was a travesty of a playoff game. One team advanced, for all the wrong reasons, and nothing was resolved. Congratulations to the Eagles. They won the National Championship, but not in Fargo.

Right now, I'm reading two books; Vince Flynn's American Assassin & Nicholas Schaffer's Saucerful of Secrets: The Pink Floyd Odyssey.

I think both Flynn & Schaffer should be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for their efforts, but not in Fargo... ;)

Good for you.

It still doesn't change the nature of the unfortunate game.

You're right, EWU and NDSU were not on the same level coaching-wise on Dec. 11th, 2010.

EWU was vastly superior in that regard. :thumb: Everyone knows that if Baldwin were coaching the Bison, he would've gone for it on 4th and 2 and put the game away. :coffee: Which is exactly what he did the next week against Villanova. :thumb: :thumb:

No shit. I haven't crossed half the lines that Screamin' or Bill have. I'm sorry if that remark was "too soon", but rest assured it wasn't directed at you.

Loser talk. :ohno:

At some point you have to stop with the whining, JaBBer, and start acting like the grown ups. This isn't D2 anymore and you should be thankful for the improbable series of flukes and coincidences that let you back into the playoffs at all instead of your two-year-old-that-lost-his-blanky act. They were better athletes coached by better coaches who had a better game plan and you folded under the pressure. That is all, you are dismissed. Better luck next year. :coffee:

:tothehand: The 2011 season is now under way. Couple of things being reported from The BISON practice yesterday. Straight from BISON central:
Tackle Billy Turner’s size is bordering on something to marvel at. Would it be out of line to call the sophomore the best player on the team?

Freshman quarterback Esley Thorton throws a nice ball, tight spiral with some zip, and it’s obvious why the coaches want to give him a good look.
The emergence of Turner is a big deal. The NDSU front line saw some graduations last year. As the dust settles it appears the O line is going to be ready to lead the way for what might be one of the most talented backfields in the FCS this season. The newfound depth at the QB position is going to be a big factor.

Its apparent, even this early, that the BISON defense is not going to take a step back. Add an improved offense and you have a much improved team.

The side conversation has one point:
JBB wrote:The "Unfortunate Game", as it has come to be called, was not decisive. Bill fette, not coaching, not players, not fans, was the difference. Say what you will, its a shame when the game is given over to someone not even on the field. Im sure everyone can, in general, agree with that.

Let me know if the Buffalo's need a replay ref for any of their spring scrimmages.

Overshadowing the fact that a very experienced and talented NDSU Football squad is honing its skills to a national championship level this spring is the talk coming out of UNI. Its a big deal in Fargo.

It seems their Head Coach Mark Farley is more than a little upset with the hiring of Chris Klieman, an assistant at UNI. In a recent home town interview Farley is accusing NDSU of trying to buy wins:

“They try to find out what the heck you’re doing from inside, and they try to buy their way to some wins, A lot of times people try to take what you have thinking they can replant it. Well guess what? You can’t have UNI.”

Farley is of course a coach watching his empire erode not only from funding problems but also the persistent and nagging realization that the Football Conglomerate at NDSU is rapidly changing the pecking order in the previously staid MFVC.

This sort of und-like knucklehead babbling is sure to fire up the fans and fill the Fabulous Fargo Dome for the UNI game, which of course is a bonus for The NDSU Program. It will put a heck of a lot more money in the coffers of the Conglomerate which of course will only insure the changing of the guard in the MVFC all the sooner.

There are advantages to having the largest program in the conference.
