Missouri State to Conference USA
Missouri State to Conference USA
Rumor for now, but coming from the same people that reported we were getting our new Arena about a month before anything happened.
"Just received confirmation from many sources that MSU received an offer from C-USA today for 2012 all sports except football."
Others saying football will move up to C*USA for the 2016-17 season.

Sounds like C*USA would give MSU 5 years to transition into C*USA.dbackjon wrote:So where would football go?
I know that serious talks with conferences have been taking place since the start of the year, which is why this isn't a giant surprise to many people. But, who knows.

Congrats to MSU if they end up in the CUSA. Not the best FBS conference but its still a lot better than most conferences.

Re: Missouri State to Conference USA
I wonder what happens with the MVFC now that MSU is probably out in 5 years and Youngstown State might be on the way out...I can only imagine what school could get invited if that happens and if a certain conference backs out on a certain offer...

Re: Missouri State to Conference USA
giving up hopes on being once again relevant in the MVFC and deciding to move on, eh?

C-USA is certainly better than the Sun Belt and probably better than the WAC.
Good luck to SW.

The WAC isn't even relevant anymore without Boise State.SuperHornet wrote:C-USA is certainly better than the Sun Belt and probably better than the WAC.

With Fresno, Hawaii and Nevada leaving the WAC isn't even on the same level as the Sun Belt. Hell they are barely at the Big Sky's level, if that.

Wrong....Bottom of the MVFC and bottom of CUSA are the same thing when it's the same team at both.MSUBear42 wrote:Bottom of the pack CUSA>Bottom of the pack MVFC lol!JayJ79 wrote:giving up hopes on being once again relevant in the MVFC and deciding to move on, eh?
In terms of basketball, it's pretty much a latteral move.
Baseball I'm assuming a drop move.
Volleyball a drop move
I don't get it, but whatever.

Am I wrong to assume that the Big East will be making an announcement soon?

All true. All true. The Sagarin stated that the then-I-A Big West was lower than the then-I-AA Big Sky. The WAC minus those people will struggle to maintain even that. I fully believe that after 2012, their best team by far will be CatMom's crew.FargoBison wrote:With Fresno, Hawaii and Nevada leaving the WAC isn't even on the same level as the Sun Belt. Basketball is a move upward based on the last 3 seasons and the way things look like they will continue to go
Baseball is a move up. CUSA had 7 teams in the top100 and an 8th at 104
No clue about volleyball....
For the record, I personally don't think this is happening anytime soon but you can't deny the talks that seem to keep coming up and each time it seems it is coming up with someone more important.
Perfect move with us is if Wichita State would add football again and go with us!

Whether it is a move up or down depends on who is still in the CUSA, a number of schools could get scooped up by the Big East.

This move would never happen, nor make sense without football moving up. The MVC is the stonger all sports conference. And CUSA, if they have any sense, has no reason to need or want that MSU football program that has been awful even at the FCS level for most of the last 30 years.
I would not count on this happening.

Well my guess is a/some CUSA schools are already as good as gone if they are already making proactive (WAC fans take notes) moves to fill membership voids.bincitysioux wrote:Am I wrong to assume that the Big East will be making an announcement soon?
Of course nothing is official until FSA give his seal of approval.

Why would our AD even CARE to deny it at 10:00 at night if there wasn't anything behind it?
From the sounds of it, we got the invite but our Board of Governors hasn't had the chance to vote on it yet, so obviously he is going to deny every single bit of it.

CUSA is a great move. It gives better exposure and chance to recrut better. UNI would be happy to have a chance to go to CUSA, you might not but UNI would.clenz wrote:Wrong....Bottom of the MVFC and bottom of CUSA are the same thing when it's the same team at both.MSUBear42 wrote: Bottom of the pack CUSA>Bottom of the pack MVFC lol!

Pretty sure UNI is happy being right where they are, in a conference that makes perfect geographic sense and is filled with their peers. Not everyone is so desperate to join the FBS that they'll stick their school into a league that is a poor fit just so they can puff out their chest and say we are in the FBS.slycat wrote:CUSA is a great move.
