Cap'n Cat Comments On The Weekend

Well, first, D1B and I were talking on the way home yesterday about how we could not recall a bigger ass-kicking than the one the Griz delivered to those CAA posers at JMU. I reminded him, though, that JMU had several turnovers which gave the Griz good field position, etc, etc. D1B countered with, "Yeah, but the Griz actually caused all those turnovers by smacking the fvck outta Dukes players. Appalachian State, on the other hand, threw all those interceptions away like girls playing PowderPuff football. The Griz were beating the fvck outta people." And that's true. That game was a flippin' joy to watch Friday night and I know the Griz are gonna kick the sh*t outta Richmond.

Now, to UNI/Richmond. UNI had it won and Richmond gave us a taste of our own medicine with a great final drive and score. Attaboy, Richmond. Good luck......you'll need it.

;)

D and I saw tons of old football friends at UNI before the game. It was a huge reunion of guys D hadn't seen since the 80's and me, in fifteen years. People always ask me if I was in a fraternity at UNI. I tell them, yes, I was. I wouldn't trade being a member of the UNI football team those four years for anything. That was a true brotherhood.

:)

Also, on the ride home, D1B reminded Cap'n Cat that the Panthers were not expected to go as far as they did this year. Remember, North Dakota State was supposed to bulldoze everybody in the Valley, then right on into and through Chattanooga? Ha! Pat Grace is returning, so is an overachieving offensive line that everyone thought would be a liablity this season. Maybe next year is the year. Who knows? In the end, it doesn't matter, I love my Cats win or lose and I'm just grateful for the dance they perform on the national stage every once in a while.

Most fans at most schools cannot appreciate that last sentence above....nor will they ever.

2008 was a fun season.

:D :D :D :D :D

Well put Capn!

It was a hell of a run for a "rebuilding" year. Also Farley broke the every other year curse for the playoffs too.

Man Cap'n, that last drive by Richmond was one of the hardest things I've ever listened to (don't get espn360 here, so I had to settle for the homer Richmond announcers). I was really pulling for UNI to shut those CAA azzholes up for the season. Better luck to you guys next season. :)

Thanks, Tag. As I said above, we got a taste of our own medicine.

I really hated to see UNI go down on Saturday. They were as good any team in the final four and just didn't get the breaks they needed in the end. As you said Cap, UNI and Montana for that matter were not expected to make these runs this year and yet they rebuilt themselves with integrity and applomb and smacked around some teams that thought they were gonna do it to our teams along the way.

Good to hear that you and D1B got to meet up with some of your old running mates. Programs like UNI were built up to their level of national fleet of foot programs on the backs of guys like you. It has to be a pretty special feeling to part of the bricks that built that program. Congrats to you guys and the great run this year, it's just another brick in the eventual completion of a National Championship for the Panther Nation.
