Don't know about this year, but 2012/2013 they either ought to be at Wa/Griz or at the Rock for Griz/ASU.

That's true. I hear the Lafayette game is drawing national interest. It's a "spotlight" game. :coffee:

Yes.

Georgia Southern at Appalachian State on October 29 would be the obvious choice.

That would be fine, then, as long as 2012 is at Wa/Griz against Appy.

Are you guys paying attention to all this talk about conference realignment & television rights? With the Longhorn Network at Texas and the new Pac-12 deal, how could you expect any kind of effort to convince a multi-billion dollar company to support FCS football? How about Independence High School in Charlotte hosting Gameday?

I always dreamt of them coming to YSU.

Could have a perfect location in the tailgate lot across 5th Avenue from the Stadium... Of course the odds of that happening are zilch.

Great idea! However I haven't seen a post yet that would produce anything but yawns in Bristol. If you want ESPN to bring Gameday to a FCS locale there is going to have to be a story behind it - something bigger than the game itself as every week of the season they'll point to 25-50 bigger games from a national standpoint. Grambling & Southern have the bands, what would this game have??

You know it was just 2 or 3 years ago that Gameday was at an FCS school, right?

That's why 2012 is easy----Griz/Mountaineers. Rematch. Storied histories. FCS titans. great location and great fanbases that will come out and make the Gameday telecast look like they're at an SEC school.

really the only reason we got gameday was because Katrina hit New Orleans and moved the Classic to Houston.

The recency of Gameday being at an FCS school is not the point. The point is that CS is a moderately-cranky niche football interest message board (which I enjoy), while ESPN is a multi-billion dollar entertainment entity. The latter is not going to seriously consider the former when there are heavy advertisement contracts on the line. A previous poster said that Montana and App State and so forth could have great Gameday atmospheres -- we already know this. But it's television. Advertisers want large TV audiences, and they are going to want live broadcasts from Chicago or Atlanta and so-on, not Missoula or Boone. I feel like this is a really naive announcement, though obviously I support the motion itself.

I agree with everything you've said. And still, it's not unprecedented that they'd do it. :coffee:

I come from a perspective of the utmost cynicism.

Do I THINK they'll do it? Absolutely not.

Is there a CHANCE they'd do it? About the same chance as this guy...

what better group to bother ESPN than this group of rubes? Maybe we could threaten them by sending SH to ESPN HQ. :thumb:

Good point. Montana - AppState is a huge game with great FCS interest, but it doesn't translate at all to the College Gameday audience. Again, there has to be something above & beyond what happens between the white lines that would interest the viewer whether they're in SEC country, Pac-12 country or Big 10 country.

Montana - App State in 2009 got close to 5,000,000 viewers. That's pretty damn good.

I don't think there's a chance in hell they come to Boone or Missoula... but, just saying. More college football fans are aware of App State and Montana than you realize.

College basketball Gameday went to Southern Illinois in 2008. So its not something that ESPN would not consider.

First of all, that was basketball. This is football. Second of all, I did not say they would not consider it. I said that this announcement was naive; billion dollar companies only act out of self-interest. They don't give a **** if we :notworthy: to them repeatedly.

If you think message board posts are influential, you might be a bit out of touch.
