Can't argue with too much there....but just out of curiosity, why worst special teams? We've got a new punter, but that's about it as far as changes to last year.

Jarrett isn't very good, EWU's kick coverage was poor last year, and Hoffman (EWU's only good returner from '10) is gone. Miller's a pretty good kickoff guy, but that's about it.

By the numbering, I take it you're breaking the ties by head-to-head?

Thanks for the love. I hope to see it.

My initial reaction is that Weber will overtake MSU. But I'll admit that I have nothing to base that on other than a gut feeling.

i don't think UM's offense is good enough to win the conference. (exceptional defense/mediocre offense until last year was MSU's calling card and that usually spelled a 7-4/6-5 season.) add in newish coach still on the curve, and i think the griz are on the outside looking in for at least one more year. in my mind, the BSC doesn't look a whole lot different than it did in 2010.

1. MSU-best player, best offense. defense has to play better. they will.
1. EWU-loaded. will there be a hangover? either way, they're STILL loaded.
3. SAC-is 2011 the year SAC FINALLY lives up to the hype? ask me in 8 weeks.
4. UM-too many questions on offense, brutal early schedule. defense will keep them in every game.
5. WSU-weebs could suprise some folks. great offensive line.
6. PSU-team on the rise. offense will score points, but can they stop anyone?
7. NAU-rebuilding, maybe next year
8. UNC-rebuilding, maybe 2014
9. ISU-things aren't as bleak anymore, but ISU is still the bottom-feeder. for now.

MSU and EWU make playoffs. SAC and UM miss playoffs.

Wait a minute. EWU returns the MVP of the Chipper, but MSU has the best player in the league?

Something doesn't compute here.

there were 2 OMVPs in the BSC last year. one plays for the raiders, the other for MSU.

With the amount of bias you've thrown in for your own school, I could very easily argue

  • 1. Eastern Washington__8-0_____9-2_____ Mitchell will be seamless from second half performance of NC game. WRs galore.
    2. Montana State _______7-1_____9-2_____ McGhee avoids a sophomore slump, but trips early against EWU.
    3. Sacramento State ____6-2_____7-4_____ Slow start but Hornets pick up steam in the second half of the season.
    4. Montana _____________5-3_____7-4____ Still working out the new QB&RB kinks, but have a strong defense.
    5. Weber State__________4-4_____4-7_____ Lost too many skill players and have very tough OOC.
    6. Portland State________3-5_____5-6_____ Improve conference record slightly, two sub D-II schools in OOC.
    7. Northern Arizona ____2-6_____3-8_____ Excellent defense decimated by graduation, upset loss to PSU.
    8. Idaho State __________1-7_____2-9_____ New Bengal offense could be a turnover-prone mess
    9. Northern Colorado___1-7_____2-9_____ Jace Davis suspension castrates the Bear offense

Top 3 make the playoffs.

I'd also put EWU as Best Passing Offense, and ISU as worst Rushing Offense. With the way BLM has connected with his WRs and how we destroyed U of I in 7 on 7s (without our top 3 WRs from last year), I might put us as best overall offense too, because Super Mario will more than sustain us on the ground. I think Zach Johnson has a great shot at best LB.

I love how mvjeklsdflkjes gives legit reasons for his predictions, but you and cathole still feel the need to jump all over him and call him a homer, simply because he didn't pick YOUR teams to win the league. Go back and look at his body of work on this board, and I'm sure you'll notice that he's consistently pretty unbiased in his analysis of the Big Sky. This is a FAN message board, not a national publication, FFS.

I also gave legit reasons for my picks. I don't disagree because he didn't pick my team to win the BSC, I disagree because I don't think UM will be contending for the BSC title at all. And it's very easy to argue that because you barely went 7-4 last year and you lose your top 2 QBs and top RB, among others. But Griz fans like you feel the need to defend him just because I disagreed with YOUR team being at the top.

Yeah, okay. I really couldn't care less what your predictions are (nor does picking your own team to win necessarily make you a homer), as long as you back them up. EWU and MSU are definitely the front runners to me at this point, but that doesn't mean UM is out of it before the season even starts.

Yes it does.

I pretty much agree sit screameniggle above but would add that the only team other EWU you could possible pic #1 would be MSU, then it falls off to a close battle between SAC and um. anything else is a homer pick pure and simple

You know as well as I do that Mitchell wasn't that good the whole season. He still has yet to prove he can do well against teams with good pass rushes.

I don't see any reason to put Mitchell ahead of McGhee. McGhee probably doesn't have much room to improve, but that isn't necessary for him to be a top-tier QB for four years. I don't believe he'll be a one-year wonder like Cameron Higgins or Michael Herrick. I don't know if McGhee is more talented than BLM, but he has shown a bit more efficiency & consistency.

Last year's stats say otherwise. In 2010, Jace Davis had 53 catches and Patrick Walker had 37. No-one else had more than 13.
