North Dakota Vs Drake

North Dakota starts off the 2011 season with a home game against Drake Thursday. The game is televised, for those who are ready for some FCS football, on Fox College Sports Central. The game starts at 7:00 Central time, with the Fighting Sioux show on at 6:30.

UND will be starting Joey Bradley of Issaquah WA, a JUCO QB from Diablo Valley College in California. He led the Community Colleges of California in passing yards last year (3,636) and had 33 TD passed, but was also prone to the INT (26).

Hopefully Bradley is the cure to what ailed the Sioux offense last year.

GO SIOUX!!!

Using JBB's logic (THERE'S a scary thought!) by virtue of playing Lehigh close last year, this should be a spotlight game for UND to measure their early-season success against a formidable opponent. The UND Golden Indian committee has dubbed this a "game of significance" with incredible "national interest" and the Drake Bulldogs represent all that is good and holy regarding Pioneer League Football which, by virtue of its academic aid to athletes, is the equivalent of all 63-scholarship schools. :coffee:

Prediction:

UND 17
Drake 16 :coffee:

I noticed this game has national TV coverage... (I noticed it before it was posted here that Comcast 414 in Oregon has it live)

I suppose this is par for the course that the premier D-I program for the Dakotas gets live TV coverage. Interesting that I didn't see NDSU's game on TV this weekend nationally.

EWU will be covered live nationally on the Root Sports affiliate (Comcast 415 or 34/734 in Oregon).

This is an important game for North Dakota. Coming off a horrid 3-8 season, the Sioux must go out with guns blazing and treat Drake like our 2007 team would have, with a 45-7 beat down.

If we come out and struggle, and eek out a win by a narrow margin, or worse yet lose................that could make the season another long one. Win big, like we should, and it should build confidence for the rest of the way.

There are alot of question marks at quarterback, running back, and in the secondary. This is a good game to have some of those questions answered.

I'll say:

38 North Dakota
14 Drake

We get to watch UND win on National TV and EWU lose.

You're right... you do get to watch Eastern and UND. Important FCS programs often have their games televised.

Very curious as to what this Sioux team will be like. I'm going with a 38-14 Sioux win, but you just never know what could happen. I'm just really excited for football season :)

It will be interesting to see how well the sioux bunce back after last season. I have a feeling they will do better record wise, but it will be tough for them to get a win in conference. Tonight is a must win at home in my opinion.

Remember what happened the last time a team from North Dakota went 3-8 in a season....Yep, I see the same type of turnaround from the Flagship of the state of North Dakota.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen. 3 D2 games on the schedule, along with 2 FBS opponents. I would give them AT BEST 2-2 in conference. With a win tonight, that's 6-5 overall.. so a turn around indeed, but not quite the same.

North Dakota wins 16-0 in a lackluster performance marred by 12 penalties for 98 yards, one of which negated a TD. Need to clean up the mistakes before they play Idaho next week.

Go Sioux!!

The penalties were the first thing that stood out to me on the box score. It was the first game, but they have to clean that up going into Idaho and Fresno St. Best of luck with those two games :thumb:
A win is win none the less, congrats.
