Why is Utes o.k. but Sioux isn't? Apparently, the Utes are reasonable.

Utah asked for the support of the Ute tribe and received it. As did Florida State and Central Michigan from the Seminole and Chippewa tribes respectively.JBS wrote:Why is Utes o.k. but Sioux isn't? Apparently, the Utes are reasonable.

Not true, but don't let that stop you. You're on a roll.LastMinuteman wrote:Utah asked for the support of the Ute tribe and received it. North Dakota asked for the support of the Sioux and did NOT receive it. That's the difference. The NCAA has publicly stated that tribal approval is the primary factor in determining whether these names will be approved.
I wonder if they are still upset about the blankets.LastMinuteman wrote:North Dakota asked for the support of the Sioux and did NOT receive it.
They did not receive adequate support from the Sioux. If they had, we wouldn't be having this conversation. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe is on the record as opposed until they vote again, and they refuse to hold a new vote. I'm aware that there's another tribe which was more supportive. Apparently, that didn't satisfy whatever threshold the NCAA is looking for.AZGrizFan wrote:Not true, but don't let that stop you. The TRIBE voted in favor of the name.LastMinuteman wrote:They did not receive adequate support from the Sioux. If they had, we wouldn't be having this conversation. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe is on the record as opposed until they vote again, and they refuse to hold a new vote.AZGrizFan wrote:
