Does EWU deserve a vote

Just wondering what the voters think, do you think that an 0-3 EWU deserves to be ranked in the top 25 at all?
I am not voting this year but would think that a 1-2 Weber State with a win over #20 Sac State, a very close loss to FBS Wyoming and a loss to FBS Utah State would be more deserving IMO

Three losses on the road, two in very tough FCS stadiums (South Dakota gave Northern Iowa all they could handle in Vermillion last year), a former #1 and a team that came one play away from beating Pac-12's Washington.
I'll play the devil's advocate with you on this one. I'd say top 20.

No at some point you gotta win games.

True, but that point for the poll voters considering EWU and in practical fact for the playoff selection committee is not next week, but the week after next.

I'd take losses at Washington, at South Dakota and at Montana (all close and all on the road) over, for example, home wins over Morgan State and Villanova.

EWU didn't make my top 25.

This situation illustrates exactly why college football polls shouldn't exist until after the 4th or 5th week of the season. At this point, we have no idea what to expect from EWU. They lost a an FBS (Washington) who they had one the ropes all game. Then they unexpectedly lose to South Dakota, before playing a huge game in Montana. If Eastern is 2-3 two weeks from now, I would say they could be top 25...

Right now a win over Sac State isn't looking like it means much.

Concur, to a certain degree. Sac State is apparently as erratically up-and-down this year as it has been in recent years, but I still think the overall average quality of the Hornet Program and athletes is superior this year compared to years past.
The WSU win over Sac State should enhance Weber's standing, but not all the way to the Top 25. A win next week in Greeley coupled with a win over the Eagles on the road - regardless of EWU's standing at that point - should elevate Weber to a Top 25 ranking and open the door to a steady climb to Top 5 if they keep winning through October.

They're deep in my top 25. It's hard to vote for a team that's 0-3, but they're still a better team than most teams in this division.
If they lose again next week, though...it'll just too hard to vote for a school that's 0-4. Regardless of the difficulty of that schedule.

They'll be punished this week but after next Saturday they will begin their next run towards the playoffs and will regain respect. EWU by 10 Saturday in Cheney.

No, Sacramento State wont be ranked after this week and they have a win vs an BCS team, EWU has 0 wins.
And Im not sure you can say EWU's road was stronger, Southern Utah won the Great West last year, not South Dakota and Weber State beat Montana last year.
No I do not think at this time that EWU deserves to be ranked.

Good point... Dave.

Not in mine...However, given their schedule and having three games on the road - FBS, top 10-15 and one of the hardest places to play in the nation, and the other loss I'm confused by but it was halfway across the country. I could listen to an argument for a 23-25 ranking, but that is only because they won the title last year. Any other team starts 0-3 with the same schedule and they aren't even considered.

I put them at #24 this week. After they lose to MSU they will be out of the top 25 though.

I would say this is their last loss. If they go 0-4 they are out. Right now 15 - 20.

I say if they start 0-4, no. Right now, I think they still deserve a vote. They have lost three pretty tough games against some quality opponents.
For example, if they don't get any votes in this upcoming poll then your saying that teams like Towson and ODU are better which I'll bet they aren't. you can bet both TU and ODU will be getting a good amount of votes this week.

I don't see any reason to give Eastern Washington a vote simply for achievements last year. This team has still yet to prove itself in the win column. Sorry, but that's not just fair to other teams which are exceeding expectations. Win a few games, get above .500 and we can talk then.

The thing is that I don't know what to think of USD right now, they were pretty average last year and outside of EWU this year they haven't really done anything of note. I can cut a little bit of slack for Montana and Washington but USD is just too much.

First you have to define the way to vote.
Is it how you think they will end the season, similar to a preseason poll? Is it how the team has performed thus far? Or is it some combination of the two? Get that straight and the question can be answered a little easier.

Preseason - How i think it will play out, with some influence from last year.
Weeks 1-4 - how have you looked thus far compared to the hype
from then on it's a all on how have you done and where should you be going.

0-3 = not top 25 However, you go down the list of FCS programs and there is 8-10 legit programs after that its SUCK VLE.
embarassing actually after the top 10
