-Youngstown State @ Indiana State : YSU goes to 11-0 all-time in Terre Haute. Will be close, but not sure their 12th man of 9,000 fans will cause YSU too many issues... I kid. I kid.
-Western Illinois @ Northern Iowa : UNI destroys WIU by 5 scores.
-Missouri State @ Southern Illinois : SIU destroys MSU by 4 scores.
-North Dakota State @ Minnesota : I will take Minnesota, but it will be close. Kill is a damn good coach.
-South Dakota State @ Illinois State : Illinois State has a solid offense, and a stout rush defense. They are terrible against the pass, but it won't matter since SDSU's QB quit... ILSU by 14.

SDSU's starting QB apparently has quit the team. http://www.sdsucollegian.com/2011/09/19 ... ball-team/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Actually that may help. TOB for the Jacks threw something like 6-7 picks to 5 tds in the first three games, and 4 of the INTS were for touchdowns. Now that we aren't spotting the other team 7, we may have a better chance actually. We shall see. I have high hopes for the backup. I'm calling it, SDSU wins by a TD+. :thumb: :o

Backup QB = best athlete on the team, right?

:lol: That is correct! :lol:

He was good enough in HS to earn a thread on the Iowa State fan forum. Also played in the Army All-American Game I believe, and was the SD Gatorade POY when he graduated. So, good pedigree, and from watching him get the short amt of playing time he had he honestly looks much more confident on the field and has the threat to run as well.

BEFORE SDSU
Rewrote the record book during a standout career at Brandon Valley High School ... a three-year starter for coach Chad Garrow, he set 14 school records and eight state passing records, including 7,612 career yards and 88 career touchdowns. ... two-time allstate selection who was nominated to played in the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl ... was selected as South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year and was named captain of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader Elite 45
DISCLAIMER: I do not expect this kid to be a world beater, but I do expect him to possibly give the team a second wind to build on.

Let me say if there was a week to start, IL ST might be it. Not necessarily known for their defense. Honestly, the guy is from Brandon (I say that as probably one of 20 people on this board that has been to Brandon). It's not like he was all state in Texas, Georgia or Florida.

That said, sounds like O'Brien's head/heart wasn't in it any more, which is disappointing on many levels. All the physical gifts in the world can't overcome indifference.

High school football in South Dakota is....dare I say it....pretty bad. Minnesota and Iowa high school football is better than SD.

The only thing that saves Brandon Valley (at least when I was up there, and I can't imagine it's changed) is the fact that they are rich as hell because of the number of people that work in Sioux Falls but don't want to live in Sioux Falls.

A rare event to agree with Lakes, but I will in this case.

Hope I'm wrong about SDSU's new QB debut.

I honestly think it could be much worse, but will stick with a 5 score win for the Panthers.
