MEAC fans were worried about ODU being the new JMU and canceling all series with MEAC teams. Well they don't need to worry because this upcoming series with NSU will now run from 2013 thru 2018....
NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University announced jointly today that the football series between the two schools has been extended to include a home and home schedule from 2015 through the 2018 series.
The two schools will meet for the first time in 2013 when ODU travels to Norfolk State on Sept. 14, followed by the return visit of NSU on Sept. 13 at ODU. The contract extension adds four additional games to the series, beginning on Sept. 12, 2015 with a game at Norfolk State, and then home and home through 2018. The ODU-NSU series is as follows:
Sept. 14, 2013 - at Norfolk State
Sept. 13, 2014 - at ODU
Sept. 12, 2015 - at Norfolk State
Sept. 10, 2016 - at ODU
Sept. 9, 2017 - at Norfolk State
Sept. 8, 2018 - at ODU

Reminds me of that Beach Boys song...
"Two bands for every fan..."
Should be fun but will be hard to top last Saturdays game against the Pirates.
It's a bit of a gutsy move scheduling HU and NSU as you know all the 757 recruit's eyes will be on those games. I like it!

That was Jan and Dean. Don't ask why I know that.

I absolutely hate this. Nothing to gain from ODU's perspective except a road game every 2 years on the cheap.
2 years is bad enough, but 6??

Plus you only increase the chance that you're going to get beat by your cross-town rival. Out of those six times, chances are good ODU will have one stinker of a game and if they're not careful, will get beat.

Before saturday's game I had absolutely no respect for MEAC teams except Bethune Cookman (made playoffs last year?) and South Carolina State (ranked last season?). If you ask me now my opinion has completely changed. Maybe MEAC teams aren't so bad after all especially considering NSU had a lead against West Virginia a couple weeks ago.

Money-wise and properly, this game has the potential of being a big financial windfall for both teams. Cross-town rivals with big followings, and large stadiums.
