Chatty at App

Streaming this off goasu.com through my PS3 onto our 42" LCD.
The box says 30K+ in attendance
End of Q1 - no score
Chatty missed a 35 yd FG facing the new end zone student section
Both teams moving the ball pretty well. ASU is establishing a pretty solid run game, while Chatty is opting for a more pass based O so far. I've been impressed with ASU's new defense in this effort, and it seems ASU has opened up the playbook a bit.

Midway through the third, and Appy misses a chipshot field goal to tie it.
Still 3-0 Chattanooga.

Apps win 14-12. 2 scores by the defense.

Just got home. NO VOICE LEFT. Could not prouder of our defense than I was today. I have sat in Kidd Brewer since 1985 and have never seen our offense not score. To win this game without 2 senior starters on defense is pretty frickin incredible

What I saw today had no basis in logic, reality or any kind of algorithm.
In a game that produced 14 offensive TD's last year, there was one this year and it was by the losing team.

Chatty always makes for an interesting game at The Rock. I don't think I've ever heard KBS louder than it was today, definitely 30K+ in the stands. Although we won and our defense was near perfect, our offense was attrocious and DP didn't have his day. Two picks and a fumble of his own, not to mention 0 points from our offense. But, always happy with a conference win over a top 20 team.

So what's the evaluation of the Mountaineers at this point? defense is scaring me overnight now that they've shut down Coleman but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they won't be as prepared for Wofford

Hard to say.
I think everyone thought the defense was the huge question mark again this year... especially with Gainey and Tanyi out (and sounding like they may be expelled from school?

). I can't believe how big they stepped up this game. Really an unbelievable job by the whole defense and Dale Jones. It was the most agressive/attacking defense I've seen from us since I've followed App.
As far as the offense goes... who knows. We ran the ball better against Chatty than I expected... and our offensive line looks like its improving. But, Presley had an awful game... much like his game against Georgia Southern last year. Brent Pry formulated the blueprint for beating Presley-- pressure him, rattle him, etc. and he makes really bad decisions. Playcalling isn't great and execution isn't great. Hopefully it improves... but, we'll see.

Gainey went to my high school, phenomenal athlete and really great asset on the field, but he can be a knucklehead, and if what I heard was true, he could be in some big doo doo other than being benched for a couple games/the season. I'm not one for spreading rumors so I don't wanna say what I heard.

I'm not going to say I like wofford in this game, just because of the history involved between the 2 games (and no I don't care that the subject is being somewhat changed) but it seems to me that the bread and butter of Wofford's defense is the front 7 and the pass rush (we probably average 4 sacks a game), so the OL is gonna need to come to play against us. BQ needs (another) big game for them to beat us...which is most certainly possible. I don't know if App can stop our offense, because we're hitting on all cylinders so far and we're much more than just handing it off to EB like we were last year. I hoping for a good one in sparkle city!

Hard game to watch. Glad the D stepped up.
Trying to decide if the wife & I are going to make the trip to Wofford this weekend.

Go. Greenville alumni chapter is trying to get a tailgate together, and we had an army down there two years ago in the rain. Nice venue for a game, and it should be a barnburner.
