Wait! Polls aren't suppose to be a 5 yr avg? Only way you can explain Towson...

Maine got screwed worse.

How can you handle the current #11 team in the country and have only one loss to a BCS team by 1 score and still not be ranked?

A team with a loss to Alabama State

Sep 3 - W vs. Concordia (AL), 42-2
Sep 10 - W vs. Tennessee St, 35-29
Sep 17 - W at Southern U, 28-24
Sep 24 - L vs. Alabama State, 14-21
Sep 29 - W vs. Texas Southern, 58-13

Now there's a tough schedule... :coffee:

This one is pretty bad. Towson, Maine and ODU unranked? Interesting.

Also, WM and UD did not fall much after losing and barely beating a bad team ... I know you shouldn't fall for winnin (so WM I understand) ... but Delaware?

So they beat 3 crappy FCS teams and a Division II team...and lost to 4-1 Alabama State...and they're ranked 25?

So why isn't Alabama State ranked? They're also 4-1...actually have 4 FCS wins, beat Jackson State, and their only loss is to Eastern Michigan (FBS-MAC) by 7 points.

This poll makes NO SENSE.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Coach's poll. I spent 3 years trying to figure this shit out and stopped caring last year. The SIDs don't know crap and coaches know less about teams not on their schedule.

Only goes to show that most coaches probably put about 30 seconds into this before going back to preparing for next week...which is perfectly understandable.

Maine should be ranked ahead of UD. UD was ranked ahead of Maine in preseason polls based on what happend in the past. Now that Maine has won fair and square on the field, the pollsters are still relying on history (and to some extent a refusal to admit they were wrong to rank UD so high and Maine so low in the first place). What happens on the field should take precedent. Maine has a head to head win over UD and a better overall record, they should be ranked higher.

I'm glad we're in there but, we had a bye last week. I'm not the smartest man when it comes to football, but did enough teams lose that put CCU into the Top 25?

Say what you want about having a ranked SWAC team. But the fact that JSU is 25 and ASU received only TWO points is more evidence on how much of a joke this poll is.

Yup - if any SWAC team should be ranked, it is Alabama State

This poll is shit. It's pretty clear that the coaches do little to no research. There's a lot of "what they did last year" to this poll.

Two of YOUR wins are against the equivalent of an NAIA and a D-2 team as well...I wouldn't be running your mouth about strength of schedule. :dunce:

Opponents WINS for NDSU:

Illinois State (2-2) beat Morehead State and SDSU (Morehead boasts wins over Valpo and KY Christian - SDSU is 1-4)
Minnesota (1-4) beat 0-4 Miami (OH)
St. Francis (1-4) has a one-point win over Morehead (see a trend)
Lafayette (1-4) has a win over Penn.

NDSU may be a good team. But there are probably 25 teams out there that would be 4-0 against that schedule.
