Use this thread to discuss each team on it's road to the Big South Autobid. I will try to update the first post each week.

I said it before the season, but I'll say it again....Liberty better hope they win the conference because they aren't getting in without it.
Thus far - another Liberty season....another season of epic let downs.

So who gets the auto-bid in that scenario

If Liberty doesn't win out, they won't have 7 D1 wins. No need to mention "Liberty" and "at-large" this year.

dback...If there's another three-way tie, it goes to some sort of convoluted tie-break where the first criteria is road wins in conference.
In that regard, Coastal has by far the toughest road schedule: SBU, Liberty, CSU
Stony Brook has GWU, CSU and VMI
Liberty has SBU, CSU and GWU
It should be noted that Liberty has not lost a Big South home game since 2006. Coastal is the only real threat to end that streak.

Coastal wins it

It's easy to say that, but Coastal plays @ Liberty and @ Stony Brook. I highly doubt they come out of that unscathed. Liberty hasn't lost a home conference game since 2006, and going to Long Island to play is never easy.

Is the Big South a full-scholarship conference?

That's not good. CCU is Liberty's homecoming game this year. Why couldn't they interrupt the conference schedule with, oh, say, Columbia or something? It would be REALLY embarrassing to lose out on the playoffs due to a homecoming loss...

Or vice versa.
I think CCU or Liberty have the best shot, and of course I hope for CCU. IF..IF we have a tie then it does go to a tie breaker (road wins) and I think CCU might struggle. LU is an away game. Anything can happen.

This week's contest; CCU @ Liberty, will be an interesting watch of Brown to Summers vs. CCU's back 7 on defense.

Outside of the Liberty game... I think the GW vs. PC game could be a close one.
Liberty vs. That team from the beach area will be a display of Liberty's stifling defense and high powered offense. It's homecoming. It's Liberty at home. It's Liberty at home for homecoming against CCU. All three of these = bad news for CCU.
Liberty 45
Them 17

As a number of LU posters have said, Liberty hasnt lost a home football game in conference since 2006 (Which was also the last time Liberty lost on homecoming). The last time CCU came to the mountain they were deep fried to the tune of 58-13 (which also happened to be homecoming). itll probably be Norman matching up with Summers most of the game but CCU is going to have to account for BJ Hayes and even Ervin Garner. I think that LU is gonna come away with this one. Dont think itll be as one sided as 2009 but the Chants will watch another victory rendition of the fight song.

Liberty will be a difficult game, no doubt. HIstory is against us but good luck. It will be the Big South game of the week.

Since FlameFans hates me when I talk like this, I'll bring it here (even though I'm sure jcmanson will retweet it and post it on FF, since I'm a "hater")
CCU has a very good chance to beat LU. Hillary will pick apart our soft zone defense, and has the athleticism to evade the pass rush we send. The issue, of course, is avoiding mistakes and keeping LU's offense off the field. LU should be able to score, but it will be tougher than against G-W since Summers will be well covered.
I have 2 predictions...
Either:
LU - 35
CCU - 24
Mike Brown 1 Turnover
CCU - 35
LU - 21
Mike Brown 3+ Turnovers.

Is the consensus, then, that Liberty's homecoming game is the de facto Big South Championship Game? Or is there someone else out there who seems likely to spoil things? Like maybe Stony Brook?
