I don't think we need to call it the pUNI dome for any reason. For the most part UNI fans have been very cordial, Lets do the same and save the shit-talking for another team (granted they were 1 of about 3 teams that really ran it up on us while we were on that losing streak).ShakirBell22 wrote:I remember just a few years ago we were on like a 40+ game losing streak and looks at us now! I was at two games I would say "the score was ran up" in that were against UNI. Trickeration and what not was used. I defended UNI here, seriously? I guess I am just another Sycamore Troll....pantherrob82 wrote:by running it up, you mean our backups ran up the middle for TDs?dgreenwell3 wrote: I don't think we need to call it the pUNI dome for any reason. Good Luck to your sycamores shakir22...as a Bison fan i really have no stake in the game because we still need to play both UNI and InSU. No offence panther fans but i'd like to see the Sycamores win....just to make things interesting!

I was at the last 3 and 4 of the last five. In 2007 our backups were in by halftime or sooner. 2009 I can't remember, but would assume the same.dgreenwell3 wrote:I was at two games I would say "the score was ran up" in that were against UNI. We very rarely use any trickeration, and I'm sure we didn't on the Sycs if we were up big. If I wasn't on my iPad I would pull box scores. Someone do that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I highly doubt it. You may have lost big, but the score was not "runup".

Re: From Gutter to Glory...InSt Football
I have been at every sycamore/UNI game since 2006 (I played at Indiana State). I am not going to get into the "ethics" of the situation I am just saying that the technical "calling off of the dogs" wasn't done, not bitching or moaning about it because I really can't come up with an example off the top of my head. To be honest I am sorry someone came on here and started rolling off with the smack BUT to say Indiana State is going to disappear after one game is just as Idiotic.pantherrob82 wrote:I was at the last 3 and 4 of the last five. 2007 was 68-14. Only two 2nd half TDs. Some first half TDs were backups and one was a punt return.

You said "Sweet Sycamore Trolls" implying there were more than one. Like if Indiana State loses saturday, their season is over. And on the subject of UNI/Indiana State 2008 was our best showing minus last year. The weather helped us out tremendously, we sucked at defending the pass that year and it was a freaking monsoon.pantherrob82 wrote:I said he would disappear. Not InSt.

Got to have the right coach, Indiana State is sitting on a hotbed of high school football in the Indianapolis region so that most definitely helps.Silenoz wrote:First PVA&M, now this! Don't lose hope just yet Northern Colorado fans

I said that while quoting him. You aren't exactly new here. I almost went in 2008. Glad I didn't. Cap'n called me as he watched the game from his truck.dgreenwell3 wrote:You said "Sweet Sycamore Trolls" implying there were more than one. Like if Indiana State loses saturday, their season is over. I had to stay, I was on the sidelines, if we had anything that looked like or smelled like a "offense" we would have been in that game.

Indiana State smack in a year when Towson has also won a few games. Now I've seen it all.

Razor is single handedly trying to give ODU a bad name, but I guess the difference is that Indiana State and Towson State have already reached their pinnacle this year. It's all downhill from here. ODU still has maybe one more year before they drop back to reality.CAA Flagship wrote:Damn, and I thought Old Dominion fans had done enough trolling to be mentioned in the same breath as the 2011 Towson Tigers. All downhill from here? We won six games last year, not exactly that bad.89Hen wrote:Razor is single handedly trying to give ODU a bad name, but I guess the difference is that Indiana State and Towson State have already reached their pinnacle this year. Re: From Gutter to Glory...InSt Football
Not bad, except two of the wins were Quincy and St Joseph's. Being ranked this year is probably the pinnacle of the last 25 years. I probably shouldn't be pissing on your parade. My apologies.dgreenwell3 wrote:All downhill from here? Re: From Gutter to Glory...InSt Football
I pulled the box score from every UNI/ISUb game since 04, and every game that got "out of hand" happened because ISUb's defense couldn't stop UNI's second and third stringers run game.
2004: UNI won 58-6
UNI ran 71 plays....only 15 passes. Yep, that means UNI ran the ball 56 times. Damn, really running the score up with that game plan huh? UNI was 11-15 passing for 174 yards and ran the ball 56 times for 275 yards (and 7 different people registered rushing stats)....stop the run game and the score is half of what it was (oh and one of the TD's was a punt return for a TD in the third). Mean while ISUb ran the ball 22 times for a whopping 29 yards and threw the ball 33 times for 156 yards...They had more punting yards than yards offense. Hell, UNI only threw the ball THREE TIMES in the second half. all of which in the first two drives of the third quarter and on second or third and long situations. Looking at UNI's drive chart is litterally "So and So rushes for so many yards" over and over and over and over and over and over again. Tell me how that is running the score up.
2005: UNI won 31-10
Only a 21 point win....UNI ran the ball 55 times and threw the ball 14 times. At one point in the third quarter it was 17-10. There is no running the score up at that point. The last score game with 10:38 left in the game on a run play. Two UNI players had 19 carries or more (19 and 27)
2006: UNI won 34-14
The game was 20-0 at half, and UNI didn't score in the 4th. UNI ran the ball 63 times and threw the ball 19 times. 8 different panthers carried the ball. UNI threw the ball once in the fourth quarter, and that was on a 3rd and 12 play, and it was a 7 yard completion to a RB on a swing out of the backfield.
2007: UNI won 68-14
I can't find a box score on either teams website (UNI only has 3 box scores from that season for some reason, I think it has to do with them being lost when the new athletic site was launched...none of the box scores are home games), and ISUb only has cumulative stats for the season. If my memory serves me correctly UNI had it's starters pulled before half time, if not it was the start of the third quarter. I'm also willing to bet the run:pass ratio was very very similar to the other games.
2008: UNI won 28-0
Hardly a blow out, given the series history. The game was 21-0 at half. UNI ran the ball 46 times and threw the ball ONLY ELEVEN times. The only second half touchdown was a punt return for a touchdown. We played with our back up QB the entire game due to the starter being out. UNI threw the ball 3 times in the second half. One was incomplete on 2nd and 7, one was incomplete, and the other was a WR screen that turned into a 52 yard gain. This game's box score has a break down of plays for a given situation. On first down UNI ran the ball 22 times and passed 4 times. On second and short UNI ran 5 times, didn't throw once. Second and middle 5 runs no passes. Second and long 6 runs 2 passes. 3rd and short 1 run 2 pass, 3rd and middle 1 run 1 pass, 3rd and long 3 run 2 pass. To give ISUb some credit here, they figured out how to keep the game close...they ran the ball 42 times and only threw 10. They finally figured out that not to get shit stomped they need to bleed the block from the start of the game.
2009: UNI won 62-7
UNI pulled the starters before half. Both 4th quarter TD's I'll blame on ISUb this time. The first was a 49 yard dive play to a FB that played RB (and was 3rd or 4th string) and the other was a pick 6. UNI ran the ball 64 times and threw just 10, and 6 of UNI's passes came on first down.
2010: UNI won 30-20
Not even worth my time breaking down.
So, in the 6 games that weren't close UNI ran the ball an average of 55 times per game and threw the ball something like 13 times per game. The starters were pulled by the halfway mark of the third quarter at the very latest, in the games that weren't close.
How, exactly, was UNI running the score up? Unless you count running the ball 55 times a game and not being stopped as "running" the score up.
