I like the old colors MUCH better...

Same here dude. The jackass AD and the President wanted to chang the colors back to the old Maroon back in 1996 and they used the cost as an excuse. They said it was too expensive as the colors were an extra cost because of their unique nature. Seemed real funny to a lot of us as it was the same color that Texas has for their jersey's. I vowed when they changed the color not to buy a single a stitch of Griz wear until they won a NC in the new colors so I was one of the only ones still sporting the Copper and Gold until 2001.

I also liked the old colors. I just wish they made more of the old colors for sale.

Except Texas calls it "Burnt Orange"...la-de-da...

Doesn't matter what they call it, it's the same color.

Agreed...and Montana is more down-to-earth calling it Copper...instead of "Burnt Orange"...

So now you wear the same color as the better school. The FCS school, TxSt, right?

I'm wearing my throwback hoodie and sweatpants right now. I look like an effing pumpkin walking around drinking beer but I LOVE IT.

They should have kept the colors COPPER and Gold. They were too unique to get rid of.

Like Ursus mentioned...go to a home Griz game and you will still see a fair amount wearing it.

Which "old" colors are you referring to? Maroon was and always will be the original team color for UM...didn't switch to brown and yellow till about the '60s. Personally, I like that UM doesn't have to share the same color helmet with that other team down the road (MSU and UM both sported yellow helmets around '95, with the only difference being UM sporting "Griz" script and MSU sporting a capital M - in acknowledgment of who owned them during that period)

Well if you look closely you can see that Texas's uniforms are lighter then montanas a little bit. So in a way it isnt exactly burnt orange but i have to agree. The copper and gold uniforms really are unique and i think very cool. I also like the silver and maroon though to.

And that's another thing: they dont look "copper" and "gold". The colors that are on the uniforms are orange and yellow. I think we feel the urge to church up the names of the colors because we're in denial over the fact that orange and yellow really isn't a very good color combo

Not a rant, just a casual observation.

The change was due to the President, Dennison. Hogan was against it, but it was his job to implement it. He thought it was a huge mistake to change right after we had just won a national championship, and because the colors were so unique.

I think it would have been a move to change the helmets to an actual Gold color but I liked the fact that it was pretty unique if not just ugly. I loved when we were in em' and I love em' to this day. The appearance of Copper's color is a real dark orange but the appearance of Maroon is a real dark pink. I'll take the old ugly Copper anyday but it doesn't matter I'll support them in the original dark pink as much as I would the Copper and Gold. Nobody felt any urge to "church" up anything as far as the colors went as they were taken from the precious metals that are abundant in the state.

Montana looks better in Maroon and silver.

man all those montana colors are ugly! cmon now.. maroon and silver wtf!
eagles= black & red,
Portland=black & green
Idaho=black & orange
Mon state= also good colors

montanas throwbacks are also ugly. carrot baby food orange & silver? who wears that besides the old tampa bay bucks?

I agree. While I thought the throwbacks were a cool idea against the bobkitties, I would NOT want Montana to go back to that color combo permanently.

Haha I agree with most people. It was definitely awesome for the Cat/Griz game this year. But I wouldn't want a permanent change back.
