If the W&M team I saw Saturday is really 16th best in the country, then this is a very down year for FCS.

And I agree Maine is too low. They should be up around 6 -8.

How are people really voting for San Diego?

Sep 3 - W at Azusa Pacific, 42-40
Sep 10 - W vs. West New Mex, 30-10
Sep 17 - L at UC Davis, 3-31 - This is Davis's only win of the year and they lost to a DII team this weekend.
Sep 24 - W at Morehead State, 48-44
Oct 1 - W vs. Davidson, 42-0
Oct 8 - W at Valparaiso, 55-14

Incredible poll inertia.

True, and please don't take my W&M comment as a swipe. I'm not sure the Hens are worthy of a top ten ranking, yet anyway.

I don't really have an issue with UD/Maine -- from what I've seen yer Chickens have the 'best' path to 8-3. Maine can get to 8-3 but it's no lock.

If W&M is going to make the playoffs I think they have the toughest path and will have to earn it. UNH has a similar tough road but 2 less losses than W&M (kinda the same with Towson except they really will have to earn it on the road).

SHHHHHHHHHH. Be very quiet. Don't mention Old Dominion.

Has ODU beaten any of the teams in the current top 25?

That shouldn't be the criteria. Maine has a better W/L record, a head-to-head win and a win at JMU which is better than any win that UD has.

The only reason UD is ranked higher is because UD started higher, which is based on last year's results and not this years results. It's just laziness and stupidity on the part of the voters.

No, however that is not a very relevant question in a conversation about which CAA teams have the best chance to get to 8-3.

ODU has 5 wins and their schedule is Towson, @ Villanova, JMU, Richmond, and @ W&M.

Towson has 4 wins and after the game in Norfolk the Tigers schedule is @ W&M, UD, @ Maine, UNH, @ Rhode Island

True, but then who is having that conversation? This thread is about the 10/10 poll, asking if ODU has beaten any of the teams in the poll is relevant.

(I agree though, ODU has a good shot a 8-3)

It's funny (peculiar, not haha) what a difference 1 year makes. Our schedule would have been much more brutal a year ago, and seemed to be a lot tougher through mid September than it does now. Based on what we know now, it's not out of the question that we finish 9-2. But I won't be surprised with 6-5 either. We have gotten VaTech-like breaks in every game. At some point, we will have to earn it the old fashioned way (offense and defense).

W&M's ranking is comical. Time to get better against #6 UNH.

Was thinking the same thing. 1-4 with their lone win against a non-schollie and a humiliating loss at home to a D-2. :ohno:

Indiana St. is for real. If they can get their BCS transfer QB to read a defense then I don't see many teams being able to compete with them. Shakir Bell is probably the FCS' most explosive back. :twocents:

I won't even touch Lehigh :ohno:

Eh. The MVFC is a lot like the CAA this year, two good teams and a bunch of average teams (CAA may be one good team). I can see ISU ending up 7-4 with what's left on the schedule, but they won't have beaten a single ranked team. :coffee:
