Of their remaining schedule, Weber may have the best shot at knocking them off playing them at home.

They're certainly playing good football. :?

I'd like to think we have a good shot at beating them, but we'd have to actually play a full game of good football.

MSU's strength is their power running game and UM has a solid run defense. I think for UM to have a shot, though, they desperately need to find a consistent vertical passing game besides the occasion throw it up and come down with a miraculous catch thing they've had going on the past few games. MSU is more balanced offensively than anyone in the league and it will be hard for UM to play catch-up running that spread option with no passing game. (See Sac State game).

I remember the crazy predictions before last years game from cat fans, also we are a totally different team with ground and passing game

Our Defense is alot better than last year, they've been fairly solid run and pass defense. but our O is extremely explosive with 1 power hb and 1 quick hb, then you gotta Def our QB whose been faking people outta their shoes.
our teams are built fairly similar and I don't expect a blow out either way. its gonna be a close one and the better team will win.

It's all about staying healthy. So far this team has not had as many devastating injuries as last year's team had. There's also more depth-we've had some young guys step in and really play well on the few occaisions where guys have gone down.

Our special teams are a major concern.

Though they're bigger and stronger than last year, our offenisve line still resembles a service academy offensive line in size (that's not necessarily a bad thing). It's working for us-especially with a mobile quarterback, but will they work against some of the bigger stronger teams in the playoffs? We'll find out. It's always fun to see the different styles of play from across the country clash in the playoffs.

It seems our team and coaches have learned their lesson from last season's 4th quarter beat down by NDSU (remember the game was even until the 4th). So far this year, MSU has gone with a much more balanced offensive attack and we've been closing teams out with the run. Our running game is much better. There's more depth-with both Trey Robinson and Cody Kirk capable of starting-and I think there's only one fumble between the two so far this season despite a bunch of carries which is a big difference from last year with Orenzo Davis' fumbleitis. And on defense our front four is bigger, stronger, and healthy. They are playing much better than last season.

It's been a joy to watch.

I hope we play you as well. Should be another great game! :thumb:
I would highly doubt there would be a blow out either way.

MSU has a very good shot @ 10-1 this season. I could see them slipping up vs the Griz, but I would doubt it.

No offense to the Big Sky, but from an outsider's perspective the league seems to be way down. sure they'll probably get at least 2 or maybe 3 or 4 teams in the playoffs but it seems that it's Montana State then everyone else and they're all fighting for second place.

Our Physical play beat down MSU they were not used to it. It was obvious

Where was it the next week when you gave up 220 yards rushing in the first half to a team MSU had beat by three scores. :coffee:

Same place it took you "gifts" to secure the win, and I might add there wont be any repeat this year

Whatever "gifts" you think we got, "physical" teams do not give up over 200 yards of rushing in one half against supposedly less physical teams. So this same old boring argument about the MVFC a much more physical conference basically holds no water. :coffee:

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing an MSU-NDSU rematch to see which team has improved more.

Yep, a non physical big fluffy team gifted it's way through the three most physical teams in the country to a championship. :coffee:

Well since this is a thread about Montana State this season and not about NDSU vs EWU last season I will attempt to put it back on track by noting that if the Bobcats can get by Northern Colorado and Idaho State, the two teams who happen to be at the bottom of the Big Sky standings so far, then we will be in the playoffs no matter what happens against Weber and Montana. :thumb:

Anything can happen against the Bears and Bengals, but I do like our chances.

I think that MSU used what NDSU did to us in the playoffs as motivation in the offseason. We changed the focus of our strength and conditioning program, but another factor was the loss of RB O. Davis for the season. Both our RB's are downhill runners and we had several o-lineman (namely our center put on a lot of weight over the last season).

I think that offensively we resemble what NDSU does with power running and play action pass off of that. I do think that our run blocking is widely varied with what they can call.

Defensively we are fundamentally sound. We are pretty solid in the front seven and our young secondary is coming along.

We got a long ways to make the playoffs, and all that, but I do know that if the Bobcats get a chance to play NDSU that they will be ready.

Cats remaining Schedule:

Sat, Oct 22 @ Northern Colorado
-easy win for the cats no real threat here.

Sat, Oct 29 vs Idaho State
-should be another tune up game at home, but idaho state can score points so threat is light.

Sat, Nov 5 @ Weber State
- no matter which Weber team shows up they will be simply out matched by a bigger, stronger, faster bobcat team, depending on which team shows will account for how close the game will be.

Sat, Nov 19 vs Montana
- Montana's Superbowl, and most likely Big Sky Championship game. Montana State is definiately the better football team, but the griz are one of those teams you never call dead.

Bobcats should sweep Big Sky and look to be a tough playoff team, Montana is the only team i see that could derail a sweep, but i don't think its likely.

I am so confused. Bill Fette wasn't even on the field as a REFEREE. He was the replay official. Not sure how he made the call on the field.
