Eastern Washington @ Sacramento State

Oct. 22, 6:05 PM Pacific

EWU 3-4 (3-2 Big Sky)

@ Washington L 30-27
@ South Dakota L 30-17
@ Montana L 17-14
Montana State L 36-21
Weber State W 27-21
@ NAU W 36-28
Northern Colorado W 48-27

Sac State 3-3 (2-2 Big Sky)

@ Oregon State W 29-28 OT
@ Southern Utah L 35-14
@ Weber State L 49-17
Montana W 42-28
@ Montana State L 31-21
@ Northern Colorado W 14-0

Both teams played very difficult early season schedules, which most likely plays a big part of their overall records thus far, and this is a must-win game for both teams to keep their playoff hopes alive. If EWU wins, Sac State could still potentially get in by winning out the rest of their games, which is very possible with 3 out of 4 at home.

Series notes: The Eagles are a perfect 10-0 against the Hornets in Sacramento, and lead the all-time series 15-4 after last year’s 28-24 victory in Cheney. In the last meeting in Sacramento, the 19th-ranked Eagles scored 35 first-half points and went on to hold-off Sacramento State 56-30 on Sept. 26, 2009, in sweltering heat at Hornet Stadium. But even stranger than being perfect in Sacramento is the fact that in the last 11 meetings between EWU and Sac State, the home team has won only twice (EWU 45-10 in 2004 and 28-24 in 2010). Eastern is 5-0 in Sacramento and 2-4 in Cheney in those 11 meetings.

Discuss.

This year's Hornet team is the most solid all-around they've had in the last 11 years though. I love the way EWU is playing right now, and I think we can pull off the win, but it will definitely have to be earned. Should be a great game.

The big thing will be to see if BLM can continue what he's been doing. His stats over the last three games (all wins) vs. the first four (all losses).

FIRST 4: 121-207-1342yds, 7tds-7int
LAST 3: 77-108-1037yds, 9tds-2int

He's upped his completion percentage from .58 to .71 and cut down on the interceptions in a huge way.

FWIW, he had this same pattern and similar numbers last year when he started out slow then got hot and led us to the title.... except that he's bumped up his game after week 4 this year vs. week 8 last year.

I agree this will be a great game. I think it will be a high scoring game and the whoever wins the turnover battle will come out on top. Go Eags!!!

i could have done without the 0-4 start but like the fact that everyone has completely written this team off. I dont expect Sac State to take us likely, though, and I think this will be a really good game with whoever turns the ball over the least winning it.

Mitchell has certainly improved his numbers, but I caution you that his last 2 games came against the worst 2 pass defenses in the Big Sky. Sac State's numbers are much better.

Another All-American lost for the season for EWU. This time it's SS Matt Johnson. Both brothers had season-ending injuries this year. This is now the 7th starter and 3rd All-American lost for the season for EWU, along with a slew of players that have missed considerable playing time, including All-American Center Chris Powers. :ohno:

Well, the show must go on.

I was wondering why he was out for so many plays against UNC. Evidently had a bicep tear all season that kept getting worse. This is our toughest loss yet, and too bad he has to end his career like this. He was one of the best defensive players to ever put on eagle uniform IMHO.

I’m still sticking with my 28-17 Hornet victory prediction. But EWU’s passing game is rolling right now so this can easily get out of hand…especially if the Hornet D can’t pressure BLM. No pressure on BLM = loss for the Hornets. :|

If you decide to sign up, you have to do it while a game is actually being broadcast. The earliest broadcast today is the N Colorado vs MSU game. I would sign up then and make sure everything is running. Need to make sure your system is current with a few programs first.

Once signed up, you get free access to ALL Big Sky games (football, basketball, VB, etc), the rest of the year.

Jeff Flemming out for Sac State for this game. So far two different QB's in for Sac.

Sac driving down inside the EWU 10 on their 1st possession. Sac's O-Line dominating so far.

1st and goal Sac.

TD Sac.

Sac - 7
EWU - 0

7:10 left in the 1st qtr.

EWU drives down to the Sac State 1yl then commits two consecutive false starts. :ohno:

14-10 early second. Not much defense for either team in this one.

Sac 14
EWU 13

HALF.

It wasn't working initially but the Big Sky TV feed is working for me.

Another All-American lost for EWU, this time Renard Williams. :ohno:
