Big Sky admits wrong call on penalty - game winning TD

Seth Lobato's TD pass to Patrick Walker with 3.6 seconds left in the game was called back by a illegal blocking penalty, but according to league officials, there should have never been a penalty. With the TD we tied PSU and with a successful PAT, we would have won the game. Fullerton needs to really re-examine these officials. They're horrible just about every game and now these jack-asses cost our only win for the season.

About time! The Big Sky officiating has never been too good, I think it was especially bad this season. The crew working when Sac hosted NAU was horrible, both ways. Fullerton was there I thought he might do something. It sucks when the game is decided by the ineptitude of the officials instead of the player's skill. There has to be better officials available. Lets hope they take a serious look at it especially with the new teams coming into the BSC next season.

I thought "one the game" was ironically funny.

Freudian Slip. You were thinking about the one call that cost you one win. Either way, both have 0's in them which is also ironically funny. But yeah, I'd be pissed two.

they need to bring replay into FCS. Im tired of all these crap calls and there were quite a few this year in the games that I watched.

If it makes you feel any better, (probably not) but officiating as a whole in the Big Sky this year SUCKED! time to clean house and get rid of all the ref's that ref'd a game this year.

Seriously, can they not do some officiating seminars in the off-season similar to what some of the other conferences do? The officiating in the Big Sky is an embarrassment year in and year out. By the way, this is not the first time the Big Sky has come out and admitted they blew some calls. This also happened after the 2009 EWU-Montana game in Missoula. To be honest, I think they only do this when the calls are so obviously bad that they have to come out and admit it.

It's FCS, boys. Like it or not, no official aspires to work at this level, and the really good ones end up in FBS or the NFL.

That's true and I'm not expecting perfection, but this is an on-going thing here.

And after the NAU/Montana game last year.

I hope we keep Bill Fette...because as far as I know he was employed by the BSC Officials to screw over NDSU.

With the TD you would have only tied the game and with our penchant this year of blocking kicks, there is just as good of a chance that the PAT would have been blocked, sending the game into overtime. You can not say for certain you would have won.
I had heard (never had a reason to check on it) that the officials the Big Sky uses are in the same pool that the WAC, Mountain West, Great West, and even the Pac-12 use. Granted, however, that the best officials probably would not be assigned to a PSU/UNC game in Greeley though.

As far as I'm concerned, UNC won that game, 24-23.

UNC is 1-10 in my book. PSU fans will have to live with their conscious reminding them that they really didn't win that game.

I looked at the conference standings just now and at the bottom, even below Idaho State, was Northern Colorado with their first winless season since 1949.

Keep dreaming, it ain't gonna change.
All seriousness, however, this will not go away and UNC fans will always talk about the winless season that really wasn't. And yet it was. But hell, I still don't know how we missed out on the playoffs in 2006. But we did, and all of us Viking fans had to learn to accept it and move on.

Don’t forget the touchback that was ruled a safety on a kickoff (UM @ PSU I think) last season.
Let's all be real though, there won’t be any officiating changes.

Or the phantom safety in the Weber/SUU game that changed the total momentum in the game

One would hope the chain gang mistakes are also corrected...might cost a team a victory in an important game.
