The anger is directed at the AD and to a lesser extent, Charlie King, the Senior VP of Finance.

I don't know if the same people now were involved back then or what your attendance figures were like but I know it for a fact that had you beat App in 2007 you would have lost the quarter final bid to us as well.

I was traveling between 10 AM and noon and had to cell or internet. At noon I’m able to access my cell & see I have a voice mail from buddy of mine & fellow tailgate & season ticket holder who saw the selection show. He says we’re @ EKU. I’m thinking he either saw it wrong or ESPNU has it wrong. No way does JMU get outbid by EKU. IMPOSSIBLE. Then I logged onto the CAAZone and saw that the impossible was actually true. Was just STUNNED. I would have thought JMU would have a better chance of getting snubbed from the playoff field than getting outbid by EKU. I should have figured with Bourne, the JMU AD, the impossible was possible.

JMU had over 25k for 4 of 5 home games. The 5th topped 24k. Avg over 25k for the season. Figured for a Turkey Day weekend game would get around 18k-20k. After all, in 08' for a 1st round Thanksgiving weekend game vs Wofford had 12,826, and this yr have been avg over 50% higher attendance than 08'.

EKU meanwhile, in an old 20k stadium, has avg 7,267

So instead of having a nationally televised game with a chance to show off the newly expanded BFS with maybe 18-20k, we’ll have a nationally televised game with maybe 5-6k at EKU in 1/4 to 1/3 full stadium. Will be an embarrassment to I-AA, and will do just more to perpetuate the notion that this is a far inferior level of football.

Same people. If you had said that yesterday, I would have said you're full of s**t. Now I think you might be right...

Agreed. A shame.

Even if not at JMU, why not show the ODU game?

They probably think more people will watch if the game involves two teams from different regions.

Because then we're only reinforcing the notion that ODU deserves attention

Just kidding Monarch fans. I don't understand the reasoning behind showcasing the two teams that most people feel should not be in the playoffs (although JMU can actually make a case... EKU...:ohno: ), much less showcasing it in Kentucky. But it's just typical NCAA incompetency.

I'm pretty sure everyone in the FCS agrees with you, except EKU of course. It's a shame. Best of luck to both teams and see you in Fargo the following week!

It's a real shame that the ESPN game isn't ODU's. Ours is going to sellout (19,818 fans) and be played in one of the best FCS facilities which would be a fantastic showcase for the FCS on the national stage. Instead, we get to showcase a quarter empty stadium that looks like it was built in the Soviet Union to enrich uranium. :ohno:

Well, since Thanksgiving Weekend playoff games with the students gone historically have anywhere from 50% to 80% of the avg regular season attendance (depending on the schools) I don't see how even EKU fans would argue that the stadium would be anymore than 1/3 full, and that's with JMU bringing 1k+ (420 miles from JMU). Richmond, KY is about 7 hrs from JMU and 8, 9, and 9 hrs from JMU's Richmond, DC, and Tidewater area fanbase/alumni concentrations.

If they got 7k to their senior day, I don't see them getting anywhere near that on Thanksgiving weekend...

JMU must have gotten pointers from the UD athletic department. :ohno:

Nah, our expertise is in driving away season ticket holders, under-ordering national title game tickets, bad field maintenance, and being unable to grasp the idea that playing DII teams, no matter the SOS, could hurt us. But in our defense, we've never, ever have lost a home game because we got outbid. That's clearly a JMU specialty.

Something is still confusing for me.
How is the bid related to the 75% that the NCAA gets? Is it the higher of the two? Also, is it 75% of the net or gross?

If the NCAA gets the higher of the bid/75%, doesn't that distort the bid process? JMU could have a much higher "75%" than EKU even though EKU's bid was higher. So what is really going on here?

Pitiful. JMU has one of the premiere stadiums and fan bases in FCS.........the JMU administration is going to have to change their tune if they are even remotely thinking about moving to the FBS. You have to spend money to make money...... :thumb:

At this point, I'm hoping EKU just submitted an insanely high and unsupportable figure, and they're the ones that made the stupid error.
