"ESPNU's Jay Walker, an analyst on the selection show, agreed. The former quarterback at Howard, a MEAC team, said during the broadcast that B-CU deserved one of the 10 at-large spots over James Madison or Eastern Kentucky, two 7-4 teams that will meet each other in the first round of the playoffs next Saturday. "
""We're disappointed," B-CU athletic director Lynn Thompson said, "particularly with the way we finished the season and the momentum we had. An 8-3 second-place MEAC team, I think, is as competitive or more so than a middle-of-the-road team from another conference. I feel rather strongly that those power conferences should not be assured five playoff teams."

This idiot (Thompson) apparently forgot how her 1st place 10-1 MEAC B-CU team was absolutely DESTROYED in the playoffs by 7-4 UNH last yr....
When was the last time a MEAC team won a playoff game? Back in the 90s?

1999, when FAMU nearly made it to the title game.

Key word is assured...JMU got in on name recognition. The CAA is now assured of five bids every year and even moreso with the upcoming expansion to 24 teams, until when half the conference moves on to FBS and maybe we will get more of a competitive playoff system.
But Lynn needs to shut up. Playoff teams don't get smashed by A&T.

JMU deserved to be in. They were one of the top 10 at large teams.
I think you can make an argument that Bethune C should have gotten in over EKU, but not JMU.

I'm not going to say anything now until AFTER the ODU-NSU game. THEN and ONLY THEN will I be worrying about GA SOUTHERN (where is GA Southern?).
Surely though, nobody seriously thinks that B-C should qualify over JMU. THAT IS a joke.

In all seriousness, how hilarious would it be if ODU stubbed their toe in this one and got knocked out in the play-in round?

Or if ODU lost to NSU AND JMU lost to EKU

Based on what? Schedule? Being a member of the CAA? Beating Liberty?
And I'm not making an argument for BCU, they LOST to A&T. Their best win was Norfolk State, but they LOST to A&T.

Nevertheless, congrats on JMU making the playoffs. And I'm thinking that the reason EKU got in was BECAUSE of their obscene bid.

But according to the committee bids aren't opened until AFTER the field is selected and the teams are paired.....

So maybe they decide who gets the home game after the teams are paired and the bids revealed...?

Yes. None of the teams that got snubbed have a stronger argument for the playoffs.
